Got a lot of pics, so I might as well get to it…

Here is the design that I came up with for the bed rack:

    BedRack_e0e5c7ed37d571e81cb9ac254b64b85a2ffdb8b4.jpg

    BedRack2_0d48c8d92df41f27246309a5f3429f1899921b19.jpg

    BedRack3_0e25e75b318f7ef5844a5c2b59df964732203798.jpg

Its made to carry a Rooftop Tent, so I wanted it to stay below the height of the cab, as the tent is about 12” tall when closed up.

The main frame is built from 2” x 0.120” tubing, and the inner frame is constructed from 1” x 0.083” tubing. The inner frame is made to store my Pelican 1740 cases, as seen here: LINK

The rails are made from 2” x 2” x ¼” angle iron. They are attached to the bed with 4x 3/8”bolts, but I will be adding 2 more as soon as I pick some up.

The skins are made from 1/8” plate, and the top features slotted holes to mount the tent. Therest of the holes are 2” flared holes, to cut down on weight and give it some style.

The front hoop is angled toward the front to match the curveof the cab. All of the hoops are taperedin, and perfectly match the angle of the cab when viewed from behind.

I’m really happy with the way its turning out so far. I’m lucky enough to live in the same town asan excellent fabricator, and we came a long way on progress today.

Here are some pics of the build:

Progress will continue to be made on weekends, until it’scomplete. I’m cutting the skins on the laser at work this week, so they should be welded on next weeked.

Shortly after that, it’ll be time for a little road trip toTRDParts4U in Dallas to pick up a Mombasa Expedition Plus!

Thanks for the comments, you guys are quick!! :D

As for the design, I'm an Engineer through the week, and use SolidWorks to design Gas/Oil Rigs. This was something I worked on during lunch or any free time I had (which isn't much...)

Here is a link that I forgot to post earlier. It's to the Pelican 1740 cases that I've ordered. These will allow me to store a lot of gear/clothing without worrying about it getting wet or dusty.

nice welds mills your bed rack is shaping up nicely. HBmurphy has a similar setup on his 2nd gen. Dunno if he made is own bed rack or bought it but has the tent youre talking about. folds down while wheelin then pops up with a small ladder when ready to camp. Sweet setup. Cant wait to see yours when done

That rig belongs to Curtis (Fabricator) and is a work in progress. He's built everything from the frame to the interior....

47" LTBs, LS1, Corbeau Suspension Seats, Onboard Air, Fox Resi Coilovers all around, Lockers, Hydro steer....ect.

Here are some pics of that rig to hold you over until I can make more progress on mine!
