Well they were dead set on it being set into the table rather than being under it. I actually think it turned out pretty damn good looking.

waiting for some cigar wrappers from my guy that I’m going to glue down and do an epoxy pour to seal it all up.

May add some organizers to the drawers, but done for now

Made some pulls from a scrap piece of walnut.

Center section is held on by magnets so I can still access the router speed control.

Finished with Walrus Oil Furniture Butter on drawer faces only.

You may want to route in some thin slots to your top center "drawer" to help with dust extraction inside the router box if you're noticing an excess of chips collecting in there. Also ditch the hard 90's inside the box to help dust flow by preventing dead zones.

Slots like these, albeit lower on the door closer to the bottom.

Remove the 90's like this guy.

I saw another video that incorporated all of these techniques but I cannot for the life of me remember who filmed it so you'll just have to stick with those two. Hope it helps.

If you were to build a cremation urn/box, what would you build it out of?

I was looking at some stuff local and I really liked the grain and look of Hickory, but I've been told it's tough to work with and I've never worked with it before.

Hickory and walnut is nice. Hickory is just real hard. So you need sharp blades.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
I don't think it's tough top work with. It's just tough.

This is hickory with walnut, maple, and wenge.

If your tools are dull, you'll notice. I'd say give it a try.

I’ve got these two small slabs, not sure what they are. Both are about 17”x22”x2” . Anyone have an idea of the wood type and any suggestions what I could make with them? I was thinking of a small side table.

Just run a block plane across a small section to reveal the grain.

is it pretty heavy? Compared to other stuff its size.
Looks like white oak to me, if you sand it and smells a little like vanilla its white oak. White oak is heavy

A palm sander with #80 grit will clean it up enough to see grain, hopefully it’s Curly Maple, my favorite
