I'm planning on doing a lot of camping this summer in my truck so I thought it would be a good idea to always have a good flashlight around. Now I will always have a fully charged flashlight handy. I also ran my ipod jack into the center console.

    First remove your junk.
    IMG_5573-1_df0f118cf55a509284bf7c88910e9a749be3bda5.jpg
Just grab and lift up on the cup holders.
    IMG_5575-2_a27bf72ad02118d437bb38adffc4dfb29a13428e.jpg
Remove carpet padding from center console. It is just resting on the bottom.
    IMG_5577-1_52ec9a56e1554b67ad54927b7cd72534b1d3cb6c.jpg
Remove these 2 screws with a 10mm ratchet

    Remove these 2 screws...

    and these 2.

The center console will lift up and pull right out and the piece covering the shifter pulls back and then will come out.

Map out where you want your outlet. I used a dremel to cut a hole a tad bigger then the outlet. I know its very bad but that doesnt matter.

    Test fit...
    IMG_5585-1_818f7c760ca57ce9e90b226aa3a89a014ac60e3f.jpg
Secure it. I drilled 4 holes and used machine screws to fasten it.

For the 12v source you will need an add a circuit. I got this one from advanced auto. You will also need about 4'-5' of wire
    IMG_5587_a7bff6cd53715a793be90814aab512d1cb237486.jpg
This is the flashlight I will be mounting. It is a Streamlight Stinger. It slides into the holder and charges. It also comes with a spare battery that charges as well.
    IMG_5588-1_872a8ee1ffdfee1668178f8e09761d46a895de47.jpg
    IMG_5589_a765a672518e8f5898b103921c19ae838953b06f.jpg
I added the circuit into Ign. 1. The outlet will only have power when the key is turned on.
    IMG_5591_0adabfbd6458c5eeea9a41371d3a103f93f80f9f.jpg
I ran the 12v wire under the steering wheel and over the E-brake, where i fastened it with a zip tie. Where ever I could, I electrical taped it onto a wire harness.
    IMG_5593_d3437bba9a9a905067389119a1e7bc20a115f1a0.jpg
I ran this wire along the side with a stock wire harness. I wanted to make sure it doesn't get in the way.
    IMG_5594_2fdb9494e1455ef76a34410e89fc99afbcc47ed0.jpg
I made sure to have enough slack for when I wanted to remove the center console again I could just rock it back and disconnect the wires.
    IMG_5595_5bc435f38b2eb86a0aa9d1c0f06a92ac04ad566d.jpg
This is when the console is sitting as it should . The outlet fits in between some wiring pretty tight but is not touching anything else. This is what you should look for before you mount it.
    IMG_5596_590b1d32a0dd3e11fb6ed7b2bddf445fc8247069.jpg
Make sure no wires get in the way of the E-brake assembly.
    IMG_5597_db91a3f38c996a8f8b0cbca342a1f16188171a43.jpg
This is with the center console removed.
    IMG_5598_d7a5c38ef2a7e54eedeff66ba603e05cc2b8714b.jpg
The flashlight and charger fit perfectly in the center console. The charger has 2 mounting holes. I used 2" long machine screws to fasten.
    IMG_5599_2336c40626045e8cb6bad862771ce8402f0a2f24.jpg
A few clips hold on the back cover. Eye it up and work slowly because I broke a clip but it still holds perfect.
    IMG_5600_1cfe37240c3248522896de42ecc815a840becb2c.jpg
Measure and drill 2 holes. Make sure you can shut the armrest without obstruction. Tighten bolts and replace back cover.
    IMG_5601_1b8bd352c2264de64ab9ac12218e8bce6dc73e32.jpg
Cut the console carpet to fit and Reassemble all covers in reverse order. The flashlight is maybe 1-2 millimeters away from the bottom. I have a 12v outlet charger at my work for it so this is a perfect setup.

Rep for you! This is a really good idea, with extremely detailed pictures and write up. Definitely on my summer To-Do list.

I will do that. I didnt even think about it. That wire is fused already if you look at the other pictures. This fuse should still work for its original application right?
    Thank you

Hah. If you see my passenger seat in the first picture thats what i removed from mine. I plan on adding small containers on the walls of the center console to keep it more tidy now though.

I mounted my streamlight in my console.. but i just hardwired the charger. I didnt put a outlet in there, I just fished the wire through the holes in the bottom.. didnt feel like removing the console and all that..

    Bump.

I'd like to start sourcing parts for this mod. May I ask where you bought the flashlight?

Just a bunch of old crap
You can get Streamlights all over on Amazon. Probably cheapest there than anywhere else. That's where I got both of mine (newest is the Stinger DS - has buttons on the side and on the back).
