Is this version of the "tank" worse or better than the chrome?

I’d say that’s better than the chrome one but given the choice between driving the black version or death, I would chose death. It looks like something a 6 year old drew on a piece of paper for a school science project.

 

The plate was still "paper", but I bet the driver at least applied for "DRTHVDR" or "VADER" or some variant ...

 

Undoubtedly. It pains me that people are rewarding that company’s appalling design team by buying that travesty of a vehicle.

It makes me want to get 35’s and a supercharger just because.

 

Buy? People "fleece" everything these days ... Mercedes, BMW, Porsche ... "loookee at me!! Mees driving dis!!!"

The fleece credit agents will be attending their funerals to collect the mosr current vehicle in 80 years.

 

I saw this one today. First one I’ve ever seen in person. My god is it ugly. It’s actually far worse in person than in pictures and I didn’t think that’s possible.

 

I saw one the other day. When Elon first unleashed them, I joked to my wife about getting one. Thank God I didn't. Everything I heard about them didn't even come close to the specs. I wanted to get one just for the laughs.

 

I knew what to expect seeing pics all over the interwebs seemingly forever...

...yet when I saw it I still asked what in the shit fuck tarnation is that?

I agree, in person this thing is ugly.
It looks very low to the ground, very long , and somehow looks fragile.

As much as I hate it, I’m glad the Tesla truck isn’t a model Y with a bed on it.

I like the black. I don't have to "see" this thing as much as when it's in chrome or other colors.

 

Still trying to wrap my head around these "trucks". Granted, I don't know much about them and frankly don't really care to. What I don't get though is how Tesla, a company that produces some pretty cool vehicles (I say having never actually driven one), comes up with this. I could probably build a better looking body in a day out of plywood. It could be a state of the art masterpiece underneath that awful exterior, but if it looks THAT bad what's the point? Maybe the thought process is that if you're driving it, you don't have to look at it? Walter White's booger green Aztec has more style than this. I will say it does look less atrocious in black though. It would look even better at night; a really foggy night.

Decision making at Tesla:
1) Somebody sketched it up
2) Elon liked it

The Aztec is universally hated for its styling, while enough people thought the Cybertruck was cool enough to pay big money for them.

Toyota doesn't have a good track record for good styling, save for the odd LC500. The turd gen Taco is ugly. Many people think the 2nd gen Taco is bug-eyed (the 2012 facelift addresses it a bit). Then there were particular eyesores like the Camry wagon and Tundra flareside.
