No glass, just the body. I take my T4i on trips (most of my glass for this is EF not EF-S) and I use my M5 (none of this glass is compatible with EF) around here for landscape and car stuff.

    Can't say

I've always fixed my own vehicles versus driving them half broken on the highway

Well the 6D is a full frame which has its benefits. Be a good upgrade over your t4i but it's up to you if it's worth it, you don't tend to shoot that much. And the only way to really get benefit out of it would be to get food glass. The 24-105 f4 is a solid lense for that body if you can find a used one. Even then the 24-70 f2.8 would be great although limited range, and those are reasonable used and available. (Quick search didn't turn up a 24-105 @ b&h). But either way it's going to be body+glass to be a worthy investment.

Yeah I'm kinda leaning toward turning it down, it would replace the T4i on trips and I don't really think I need a better camera with me on trips really. The M5 is better than my T4i in all respects other than battery life (fucking mirrorless shit i swear batteries die FAST) but it was a significant chunk of change with all the glass and I don't think I want to bring it on trips really.

I’m at the shop. It seemed fine, just a little clunky and lots of underwater.

Yeah I can't get behind mirrorless camera, maybe their picture quality will win me over eventually but I can't stand the digital view finder nor the battery consumption. Even the 7D2 felt power hungry on my trip requiring a batter change halfway through.

Sounds like it might not be a good fit for you. Curious what price it was offered to you at :anonymous:

I really like the digital viewfinder on the M5 and I actually really liked Dan's R6 too. But it is a different feel for sure, took a minute to get used to. But I despise the battery life. I brought the M5 to death valley once and only got 1 day (that's with how much I shoot, not like you and Dan who've made a career out of wearing out brake pads for pictures) out of each of my batteries. If they made a dual battery grip for the M5 I'd own it.

Good not great, I guess depends on the condition and how many clicks it's seen. A 7D2 is sub $600 on the used market. Mine was $650 for only the body and one battery but it was "like-new" condition. If it was a better deal it might have more swing in your decision.

    Isn't the 7D a crop sensor though?

That's the same one we just got for work I believe, EOS 6D Mark II? I've only been using it for video though but it's nice, even in full manual mode I can't for the life of me figure out how to get it to stop auto bracketing my exposure in photo mode so I just keep using the 5D Mark III for pictures lol. I haven't really messed with it much though, works great for video.

$700 sounds like a steal, I think the body retails for like $1200 brand new.

Yes, but like everything there's more to the equation. Better AF capabilities and a more robust construction, 7D2 is magnesium body, not composite (plastic) like the 6D. Theres a lot of comparisons online, and so far I'm very pleased with what I have. The only faults I've found have been limited by the glass (never fast enough) and not faults of the camera itself.

Fair enough, I think if I do end up switching I will finally make the jump to full frame though. I'm only ever really picky about my low light stuff which neither of my cameras do well enough but I have been making up in post for.
