All right y'all, this is kind of the last call for anyone who wants to come in with us to northern VT.

As of tomorrow morning-ish, I'll be on the road and then without signal until after the eclipse. Let me know if anyone wants in who isn't listed, I can put you into the PM thread with the location/meetup times/etc.

Safe travels everyone! I'm sure many know this but I thought I would post it anyway, the same applies to NH.

Right now I have about 8 3 inches of snow in my backyard (Southern Coös County), temps are in the low 30s. Snow showers earlier and expected throughout the day today. BUT, it's supposed to be sunny on Monday

    Be safe, have fun :D

Yeah, it’s crazy. I’m a space geek and I never thought the size of totality would be built around the size of a full moon- big daaa on my part.

It not only got dark it got colder also.
Dog went and curled up on our outside couch. Funny because birds were also acting weird during it.

    I am envious.

My play was to drive to Syracuse (maybe a bit further north). Every forecaster said, "Check back in the morning..." I woke at 5am. Sun came up after 6. Skies clear, but high cirrus clouds were coming in. I checked NWS. They predicted it would be good until maybe 11, then cloud over. On a hunch, I checked the weather-cams on-line. Grey skies were abundant, and the deck was lowering, so I didn't make the drive. As the morning progressed, it got worse. Co-worker had a friend in Corning, who then drove to Geneseo - rain. You could see no traffic on the apps, which told you what you needed to know. When some NYC media, who was originally going to Syracuse, posted they were departing and were on the move to Burlington, that pretty much told you what you needed to know. If you ain't here, don't bother coming. So I didn't.

I don't feel bad, though. Tupper Lake, Lake Placid, Northern Vermont, and Maine were never in play for me.

I am stoked you all had an awesome experience. And please tell me, are you going to chase another one?

And to keep things light, does anyone know if ski areas had daytime "night" skiing? (Bromont in the eastern Townships comes to mind, but I can't imagine any mountain forcing staff to work during the eclipse..._

I feel your pain. I thought I was going blind, and was ready to curse my glasses, until I realized it was a low cloud raining on my parade here in Sullivan County...

My neighbor's animals (a farmer) went a bit batty, too. His chickens were roosting.

It's actually quite the happy accident that makes it possible. The odds so rare that they'd be perfectly sized and distanced to make eclipses possible. It doesn't happen anywhere else in the solar system.

I know Mad River Glen ran the lifts till about 15 minutes before totality and picked up just after. If you were on the mountain you got to keep skiing. I was at home and in Cabot, but we're passholders at MRG and read their plan in the weekly newsletter.

I took the girls to Paul Smiths, it was impressive. It did get colder, birds were look for roosts and an owl started hooting during totality. Afterwards all the morning birdsong lit up. The drive home did suck though. We jumped right in the car and ran into traffic within about 30 min…bananas.IMG_9979.jpg
