Received a new 3rz from yota1 a few weeks back or so. Not going into the truck for a while. What's the best way to store it? I've just been turning the crank every few days or so. Should I full it with oil or what would you guys do?

I'd call yota 1 and ask them before I take advice from an internet forum

I don't work at yota 1 or would be considered remotely affiliated with them. Businesses tend to pay someone to answer the phone though, e-mails are usually "I'll get to them when I get to them".

If you're worried about not getting an answer from the admin/receptionist, then don't lead with your question, make sure you get passed to someone who can answer your question. Less "Hi, I need to store the engine I just bought, should I fill it with oil?", more "Hi, I received the 3rz I purchased, and I have some technical questions before I install it- is there a support tech available?" If you get "please e-mail us..." then mention that you have sent an email without receiving a timely response, and you're hoping to talk to someone can answer your question.

What's with people avoiding the phone these days :notsure:

Bro there's this thing called "customer service" which every company has. Try calling before posting dumb excuses such as that.

Well, apart from weird smartasses trying to get personal about shit, the forum is full of people with rock solid advice I may or may not give from a company that may or may not give a shit. I'm on the other side of the country and have a super involved job I can't just yap on the phone on hold while lines get held bc the dude who knows is turning a crank shaft.

Fill the crank case with bees, shake the engine occasionally, the bees work like a ultrasonic cleaner to knock any new corrosion off the internals

We do live in an age where, people are afraid of talking on the phone

Kenny, tech guy at ATTC, was almost enthusiastic when we were talking about consumables and usage in CNC plasma

How'd I get to talking to Kenny? I asked to talk to someone as I had technical questions about kerf values and whatnot before ordering consumables from them

He even gave me his extension number if I had any more to ask at a later point

You inconvenienced us by posting the most lame excuse ever. You're supposed to do your own research and calls to the company before posting questions. That's how forums are supposed to work.

OP, I'd just keep oil in it.

It'd be like a parked car.

Then replace it and use proper break-in procedure after install.

The forums would be a better place if they did. Thank you for contributing to the laziness.

Alright, so you get someone on here that says "Yeah, 100% fill it with oil, or killer bees with a taste for metal". Then you do that. And it's wrong, and the motor is hosed. Then you go back to yota 1 and complain and want a refund or exchange or whatever you think makes it right. They're going to tell you to pound sand cause you took advice from the internet. Could be the most rock solid advice from someone on here who has been doing it that way since man first refined oil, but it doesn't mean shit if it messes up your new/rebuilt motor.

Thanks, so here's another part and maybe important, should I put in the high zinc break in oil they provided or is there something maybe where that would be a poor choice for an engine in storage? You know what I mean?

It's going to be out of warranty timeline unfortunately before it goes into the truck. Things changed, here we are.

Get you some fogging oil, spray it in the spark plug holes, intake & exhaust ports, and any ports into the crankcase to prevent rust and cap/seal everything.
