I disagree! They inspected it and verified that it is indeed a truck.

Exactly right about that! Only good thing they did is the fuel pump recall.

Mine is also wet, and low on fluid.

    Currently pricing out/researching replacement racks.

    Not looking forward to it.

If you don’t mind reporting back on your findings. I would appreciate it because I know I will be doing the same repair before to long.

must be a quicksand taco issue

Just remember, as long as it's leaking, it still has oil in it. So you should be good. I would worry when it stops leaking.

    Mine has a leak. :annoyed:

I got a quote for about $2K to replace it. I have a 2016 Taco with about 70K miles on it. Is this normal for this kind of repair? It sounds like that price is about what I should expect. Should I replace it right away to prevent other issues or is this the kind of thing I can put off until it gets worse?

You can leave it, won't hurt anything. Just be sure to keep an eye on it though. If it actually starts dripping (or fluid getting onto other things), go after it then.

Dexron III is sold labeled as "Dex/Merc" now. Not hard to find.

Once it leaks out of the boot it’s time to change it.

It’s a bastard and 2k sounds right with oem replacement parts.

I wonder if there is any recourse with this dealer. I assume that they provided a written report so perhaps you can confront them with it and threaten to take them to small claims court.

My other thought is "how good of a buddy is he?". Is there any chance that he is misrepresenting what the actual "inspection" was? Nevertheless, any inspection (even the annual State inspection) should have discovered those things.

    Good luck on your challenge.
