Who was the guy that spent months claiming the 4runner would change market segments and be replaced by the LC?

To be fair, I had said there was a nonzero chance of the 'Runner being disco'd in 2025. But I said that once or twice, I didn't do a campaign.

Since Tacoma and 4R are virtual clones, I’m curious how many of those who are currently considering a Tacoma will now be motivated to wait until fall to compare a 4Runner. They’ll both fit in a standard garage, so let’s see the that backseat legroom measurement….

I hope the 4Runner isn’t hybrid, AWD only like the LC.

That leak gives me pathfinder vibes, in a bad way.

It was @batacoma. Let’s not let him forget as he was annoying as hell about it trying to convince everybody that Toyota would axe one of their most popular models.

The 4th gen Tacoma is an awesome redesign. This just looks like shit and will predictably kill the 4Runner, in favor or the smaller better looking Land Cruiser.

The rear window rolling down carried over along with a button to do it from the drivers seat.

No these will sell well. Also I’m pretty the 4Runner will be the smaller SUV. I remember people vocally hating the 5th gen refresh in 14. Now it’s one of the most beloved 4Runner’s designs and the sales numbers back that up.

They have a pretty narrow price window to slot it into to make it competitive, because I agree, if forced to buy on looks alone the Land Cruiser would be my pick.

The lengthening of the wheel base on the 4 runner makes it even less appealing than the LC (although it is still shorter than the Tacoma and LC). I do like the bump in towing.

I bet it will be part time 4wd like the Tacoma to keep cost down. We will see about the hybrid, I can’t see a Pro or TH competing without one. What’s wrong with full time 4wd? Works better in more conditions.

So turning radius will be worse which sucks. On the flip side departure angle may get better like it did with the Tacoma now that wheels are further back. Break over would also be worse. That being said they probably made it a lot easier to fit 33s and 35s from the factory like they did with the Tacoma. That will more than make up for the increased wheelbase off-road, especially with a sway bar disconnect.

I'm going 4runner , been waiting to see it and I really like it . If it's still made in Japan then I'm sold even more . I don't really need a truck , could get by with trailer and that Green has me and the leg room has to be better in the back it just has to be

The article already said they got worse by 2 deg for the departure.

Surprisingly, I fit a lot of bags of mulch in the back of my FJ.

I suspect a lot of Tacoma owners might consider cross-shopping a 4R or LC. (hand raised…).
