The Tacoma becomes a SUV

Check out this description of the Trailhunter features. I assume some of these would translate over to the Tacoma.

"In addition to all of the usual trims found on Toyota trucks and SUVs, the 4Runner also offers the new Trailhunter trim. The Trailhunter includes ARB's Old Man Emu (OME) 2.5-inch forged shocks with remote reservoirs on the rear axle and a custom ARB roof rack. 33-inch Toyo Open Country all-terrain tires provide the grip along with two-inches of added front ground clearance and 1.5-inches in the rear. Rock rails and high strength steel skid plates come standard on the Trailhunter along with a bronze grille and integrated 20-inch LED light bar. Toyota has also built in a 2400W inverter to power gear during overlanding adventures."

Every weekend I’m reminded of how envious I am of my wife’s daily driver. Much more comfortable than my turd gen taco.

 

Oh I would absolutely drive any gen of the 4runner, and prefer it over a tacoma. 4runners look so good, and such a reliable platform pretty much across all gens so far. I just hate that every mom has one - your wife included

 

Is it built in Japan?

 

Plenty of legroom in the back...for the dogs. Random thought, I hate the term "rock rails".

My guess is Mexico since it’s a Tacoma with a different rear!

I can’t wait to see the interior and exterior dimension comparison between this new gen, and the 5th gen.

The 5th gen 4Runner is a solid rock.

I hope the 6th gen production remains in Japan, but considering it looks a lot like the Tacoma, it would no surprise me to learn it’s going to be made in the US, or Mexico.

I also think the 4Runner prices will mimic the Tacoma.

 

I think it carries the styling better than the truck at least. Saw an orange 4G today and..man, there is just so much going on between the taillights and cab.

 

Maybe it will grow on me but the new tundra still hasnt, guess I'm now one of those old farts who likes clean lines. I am all for the updated tech and like the front of the truck, but the weird cab and roof line, taillights, fenders, the TRD branding on the doors, cramped interior, I'm just struggling with Toyota's design pivot with this generation of BOF.
