40s are the new 37s. tons and 42s or bust

 

I remember my first visit to KoH, I felt so small on 32s. Everyone had 35s on their rigs, so a few months after I got home I cut up the Tacoma and had 35s on it. KoH the next year and suddenly everyone was on 37s and 40s ... I couldn't keep up

 

You seem like a good driver though. Even on 32s, you could probably outwheel a novice driver on 37s. I'd say most of the people that jump to bigger tires haven't even come close to the limits of their current size

 

So you're still on 30's?


What level do you get a rear drive shaft?

Man I wanna take a short trip back to 2012 just to go to a weirdly too dark party in a bad mostly public venue just to rock out to this old jam in my finest eyeliner and wristbands.

I am competent enough, the big tires just made things much more comfortable and was easier to crank up the speed. I loved that tire setup, would throw them on in a heartbeat if I had a need. But with the van I don't do speed, we still wedged it through some interesting shit last month, granted no good images because I was driving the technical sections but by the end of the trails a couple times we were quite impressed the van was at the end of the trail. There's a few reasons that keep me from running 35s on it, but I do kinda wish I had them on it.

 

I've never heard of them, but this sure feels that time period. Awesome.

Man, manually adjusting slots suck.

All because I insist on keeping two hundredths of an inch tolerance.

 

Should be able to hold a 2 thou tolerance even on a home gamer CNC, that's a football field compared to what a professional CNC can attain. Is your material moving maybe?

Oh I'll rephrase

I easily hold tight tolerances consistently; issue being I have to switch metal suppliers for my dino's and I have to dump the 10 gauge and need to use 11 gauge moving forward

But, I plan to keep all the dino's the same size (assembled dimensions) and would like to have that small play that'll allow anyone to easily put it together and tack weld it

In short, I treat my weld it yourself kits with the assumption that any buyer is the most novice of welders

I don't know if I'll even understand thou, just use the metric system dammit my industry is this weird blend of both, no standard and it drives me crazy.

 

thou is Americans who vehemently hate metric converting our own measurements to base 10... but not like a communist

 

Even in the CNC world here in the US, they insist on using metric for kerf width values yet standard for movement speed

 

As someone who did a lot of math for my degree, you appreciate how beautiful and simple the metric system is.

Lol what a fuckin mess. At least that sounds consistent. I get different customers drawings measuring things like length, width and heights of products all different. Torque values too. Hell some customers are inconsistent internally on their end. Just adds to the fun when I catch all the other mistakes these guys make. Sometimes it's rewarding when you tell them "hey your tolerances stack up here making this MAX dimension a problem" and they go " our other CM has been building this product for years and never said anything..."
