Yup. The guy let go of the family 68 rs Camero that started with the aunt for a few years. His moms car while the wife grew up. It eventually cycled thru he and his brother and back. Sat neglected, next thing you know its gone on the cheap.
Never the brightest bulb.

 

That brings back a memory... I was working at a parts store and a steady customer comes in to say that he knows a guy wanting to sell an "old Chevy"... cheap... and is anyone interested? I take the contact info and when another car-guy customer walks in I give him the information. A week later the guy I gave the information to pulls up outside in a pristine, bright red, 68 RS Camaro. I see the car through the big front windows and meet him at the door. My greeting, in jest, "Oh, you already got it painted?" Kidding, because this was obviously not the "old Chevy" related to the information I'd shared.

Except it WAS.

The car was immaculate and stock except for a set of Cragars and nicely fitted headers... and bought for $2500.

I've been kicking myself over that one ever since.

I'd be interested if it wasn't a convertible. But the price, if all of the description is true, is mighty low.

 

I knew a guy in the 1980’s that his family owned a stripping company. Giant acid baths that people from all over the country would send classic car bodies to for complete body stripping.

He owned two beautiful rides. A ‘32 Ford Cabriolet. Two tone brown and perfect. Looked like the photo I found off the net but it had a street rod look with a blown small block.

His other perfectly restored car was a ‘69 Z/28 RS in yellow. Looked identical to the photo I pulled off the net. One day I saw him around town in his ‘32. I hadn’t seen the Z/28 around in awhile so I asked him. Oh, I’m restoring it again it’s all in pieces in the family shop. Wow, that perfect car was getting restored again. About two years go by and I see him again and pick his brain. Is your Z/28 done yet? He was embarrassed to tell me I’m sure, says no, I ended up parting it out and selling what was left. What? He said it was all in pieces in his shop for so long people stole all kinds of parts from it over the years and he didn’t realize it. By the time he realized it most of the important stuff was gone. I never found out what they took but damn, so heartbreaking to hear. Rich family so it was brushed off as not too important.

 

When I had my 1971 CUDA in the 90’s I used to frequent car shows and swap meets around San Diego and LA. Some of which had vendors selling used muscle car parts and paraphernalia. One guy had crates and crates full of old muscle car magazine ads that were all in pristine like new shape and wrapped in plastic. I found this ad and bought it. I have it somewhere in storage but with the ad I posted above of the Roadrunner it reminded me I have this one. I don’t have time to dig and find it so I went on the net and found the same ad for sale on eBay. Thought I’d share it here.

 

I’m sorry but a white ‘72 Demon with a snorkel hood is my poison. Never owned one but did have a “dumb fuck green” 69 Dart GT straight 6 convertible for a summer. I take that back.. snagged a baby blue ‘70 straight 6 Duster off the top of a pile heading to the crusher. Sat for a few weeks and got rid of it.

 

Didn't Mannix have a Green Dart Vert, but l don't think it was a 6 banger?
