What happens when you cross Bob's DNA with Goat DNA?

Mind you, I have no idea about the durability of their current production.

I had a Lawn Boy that was well over 30 years old when it finally gave up the ghost.
Mrs Gritto got it used, before we were married.

It was brutally simple and uncomplicated... which is why it lasted so long.

Now you got electric mowers, or if you're stubborn and insist on gas powered, CARB compliant engines.
And they're all ridiculously expensive


Gonna go off on a tangent here, so buckle up

I'll tell you a secret.
Cutting emissions on small engines means running lean... very lean.
Which in turn means running hot, no way around it.
And that ain't good for durability.
It's not practical to hang anti-smog junk on a small engine.

It doesn't work either when you step up in size to a motorcycle engine.
Not enough to matter, IMO, as far as emissions go.
The anti-smog crap on my Kawasaki Vulcan was troublesome (deceleration popping) and made the exhaust run very hot, so I stripped it off.
Marbled the switch valve line, plugged the recirculator inlet on the airbox, blah blah.
This blocks the operation of the reed valves.
In turn, it was also necessary to adjust the mixture to make it more rich.

It's called removing the afterburner.
@1buzzbait knows what I'm talking about.

Now, as to anti-smog stuff, that kind of jiggery-pokery can be made to work on the larger engine in a car or truck.
And it does have a worthwhile, significant effect on emissions.
But it also adds complication and expense.

Now, where was I?
