    3 1/2 rough country lift 285/70/17 tires -6mm offset
    Hello,
I am new to this. I have a 2022 Toyota Tacoma TRD off road. I put a 3.5 lift on it, new tires that have been balanced and an alignment done. I am have been dealing with a shaking at interstate speeds that I can’t get rid of. Any ideas as to why? Can’t seem to figure it out. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Also just wondering, if I went back to my a stock set up with a 2inch spacer in the front what wheel offset can you go with if I were to keep 285/70/17 tires? Or would those tires not even fit that

Try looking up carrier bearing spacer. 3.5" is a lot for suspension lift in my opinion. A lot of the angles are out of whack. Goodluck

Yeah I’m thinking about just dropping it back down to stock with 2inch . Do you think 285s would fit?

Do you feel the shaking in the steering wheel or floorboards?

2” lifts IMO. Keeping components happy and cv’s not touching fins.

yeah, many here stay under 2" of lift for these and other reasons. Also, RC isn't one of the lifts held in high regard.

So just to clarify if I sent back to stock high with a 2inch level spacer in front, would it fit 285/70/17 with -6 offset? And if not, what should I get that would clear

Also by any chance that when the truck was lifted it make the driveshaft sit at a weird angle to cause vibration? Would a carrier bearing drop kit help?

OP-Photos help us see/understand your predicament, also post your alignment printout if you have it.
Rough Country lift-is this a Drop Bracket kit? Rough country is known for being an aesthetic only lift, no performance enhancement(they ride like dump trucks bc of the drop bracket, so id say its a loss)
ECGS bushing is highly recommended for any lifted taco, esp above 2” lift(factory bearing is known to fail and cause “high frequency” vibrations)
Wheels/tires- 285s will fit on a 2” lift WITH a frame mount chop, some fender massaging, and a proper alignment.
The main issue with lifting a IFS vehicle above 2” is all driveline angles, you’ll chase your tail trying to fix a issue that is created by the lift.

You can run 265/75/16 on a stock taco without issue, idk why/if a 17in rim would make a difference but it should be similar. 285s require more “work” bc of UCA clearance, frame mount clearance issues, and having to massage fenders if utilizing the truck offroad(for actual clearance).

I gotcha. I was just trying to salvage part of this build because I’ll need to get new tires but was going to try and keep the 17inch rims. Would the -6mm offset give any issues?

And yes rough country has this drop kit if you have a two part driveshaft

Anyone mwntion the front diff drop spacers?
My lift is 3 inches. Toytec up from and custom alcan springs in the back. Never had a vibration. What wheels and tires are you currently running? Who did the mount and balance? So.etimes tires can be finicky and need to be road force balanced.
