I think they know 4 runner buyers won't buy that Iso seat thingamabob gimmick like other segments of buyers. Or it could be about leg room...

I agree, I just think it's a shame that it seems like toyota is targeting the tacoma trd pro towards like 19 year olds with those gimmicky seats, just one more thing to break.

...Have you ever driven a vehicle with a turbo 4cyl? They haul ass. HP and tq numbers mean something that's why they exist. The amount of coping that 5th gen owners are doing right now is absolutely insane. Even worse than taco owners when the 4th gen taco was announced:rofl:

Unless you're trolling, and we all fell for it hook line and sinker. Hoping that's the case because nobody can be so ignorant to say something like that.

Why have EFI when carburetors work so well? Or better yet, why replace horses with the automobile? C'mon dude.

Toyota knocked it out of the park with the 6th gen design. Kept the sliding rear glass and returned the 4runner to form as the SUV version of the Tacoma. It was obvious that the V6/5spd combo was not long for this world, the HP and TQ of the 2.4T along with the far superior 8spd transmission will make it way more engaging on and offroad. MPG should be up too. Instant torque from the hybrid system would be a welcome addition on the trail too. The rear tail lights look a little bubbly so I'm eager to see what the aftermarket can figure out there.

Very excited to see what kinds of parts interchangeability there will be... Could make the aftermarket for this platform even better.

Looking forward to seeing the 4g taco and 6g 4runner with bumpers and sliders. Gonna make it that much better looking.

The 3rd gen V6 wasn't even a good example anyway, lacking any torque the aftermarket tuning companies are the only thing that propped this engine from being a total dud. Of course you can't tune out oil drainback and starvation issues, that one is unique to that V6 and you're right the 4cyl won't be able to live up to it

The 4Runner, and GX, have always been Prado based siblings. The 4th/5th Gen 4Runner and GX470/460 are the same platform.

Until mine went I never had an issue crawling with mine with what 180 hp and 280 torque? I'd take the 4cyl in my LC any day

Plus it's a factory turbo engine... there's always headroom to turn up the boost a bit. At this point my Turbo Taco makes way more HP and TQ than the old 1FZ and that's an aftermarket system I assembled and tuned myself... imagine what you can do right out of the box with OE components and design.

I wish Toyota did crate motors. Just the weight saving alone with the 4cyl

The 4 runner was actually Tacoma based when first launched, took a deviation along the line and became Prado based along with it's Lexus cousins, and now in its 6th generation...It is a Tacoma without a bed once again.
