It's just missing one full year. That's not ancient. Do you really think the Colorado isn't selling 100k+ fewer than Tacoma in 2023?

All the sales are down. It is telling me everyone is holding onto their vehicles because all the new ones are so dang expensive. Heck even newer used ones are alot.

Toyota is now pandering to the BMW fan boys that have infiltrated the Tacoma market over the last several years, the ones that chase the newest, shiniest object in the room and then quickly trade it in two or three years for another shiney object. Reliability and dependability won't matter if the core customer base doesn't hold onto the vehicle for more than a few years. Just look at some of the other auto manufacturers if you need an example of how it works, Range Rover is a great example of this.

This, I blame social media, the whole "overlanding" truck building I drive a Taco lifestyle crap that infiltrated and turned all the platforms into what you have now. I mean we always had the mall crawlers but now you have the youtubers, etc. and thats how we end up with TRD Jons who are not ashamed to say they paid MSRP at 8% interest on their new Taco.

I believe they will, you can’t close the gap when you share a factory with the Bronco or GM vans and only have 1 plant versus 2.

Me too, I was being facetious. Toyota is dominant in the midsized truck market and it'll take a lot to change that. Lets see how the full year 2024 numbers play out before we go declaring that Toyota has lost its way and its customer base.

Sorry missed the tone of your text, all good. I think the competition has stepped up the game for sure. Plus everyone is quick to shit all over GM and Ford quality yet all the posts here about issues with MT, lights on the dashboard going off, quality all across the board, it's crazy to not even consider the other trucks on market. Pricing coming down will definitely help though, I can buy a Canyon AT4X for $4,000 off MSRP right now or order a Ranger at 4% below invoice, if dummy me can figure it out so can 95% of the buying public.

Make sure you show him this:

    https://www.caranddriver.com/review...ma-trd-off-road-2023-chevy-colorado-zr2-test/

At the end of the day you can get a ZR2 for a little over 48K. $52k+ if you start adding the cruise and convenience package/leather/sunroof etc. Less with any discounts they are doing. TRD OR starts a little of $44k and then hits $54.5k with all the options....less at some of the dealers already doing $3k off. So pricing is still neck and neck for the most part.

I don't understand how the ZR2 competes with the TRD OR and not the Pro? Also why would they test with the stupid Desert Boss package? Completely unnecessary.
