I have a friend with some pivots on everything from a Cessna 150 to a PC24 and he's a big fan. I have a WC6600NEX head unit replacement but I find that OnX/Trails Offroad/etc don't really handle CarPlay well. For example, I like Trails Offroad when I'm rock crawling on a trail I haven't done before so I can learn the obstacle names and have an understanding of where I am when I'm talking to folks about lines at the end of the day but e.g., the Trails Offroad app when used in CarPlay doesn't show obstacle names.

Curious how you find this setup when you're done as I think I'll go that route as well.

mmmm PC24. we rock a pc12 but damn the 24 is appealing. That rear cargo door is *chefs kiss* for patient loading/unloading

Why are you ditching the JD kit?

Not really sure where to start. And really not sure how to word it without coming off like I’m trashing them. But such is life.

I 100% for sure lost wheel base with my kit.
The anti squat and wrap is out of this world.
Shackle geometry really isn’t proper. We can debate this all day long. But it’s not.
I’ve been through 2 driveshafts now. I’m assuming this is due to the amount of wrap. But my slip and carrier wears out super fast.

I’m sure I made a slew of mistakes, and am the only one to notice this stuff.

Is this a one off problem on your truck or are others having these issues? Installing JD SUA in about a month. I have only heard good reviews.

I very recently installed the JDFab SUA Kit with the Frame Brace as well.. I have just 2 weekends on it totaling around 400 miles and no issues yet. Ill have another easy 200+ miles logged after this upcoming weekend. I pack heavy which includes two fuel cans, two full spares, spare rear diff, a set of spare spindles and a bunch of other crap including fire wood.

I’m heavy enough that having Deaver make me new springs. Just the GFC maxes out the H70HD

Im not too surprised in a way, my first impressions when driving home from WheelEveryWeekends Shop after the install was how "soft" the rear felt. I stopped by Deaver after a week after the install to pick up a spare set of UBolts and Centering Pins. I mentioned when I was there that some here have said that removing the 5th Leaf Spring from the HD Pack was needed to make the leaf springs feel softer, and to possibly lower the ride height, they kinda chuckled at that and said no way

Many things boil down to knowing what you’re looking at. Leaf separation, shackle angle etc.

JD has always treated me right. That I won’t lie about.

My only piece of advice is to research SUA geometry and understand it.

This would have been year 3 on this kit for me.

Probably a "yes," but do you have to have an iPad with a data plan to run these apps?

No you do not. Simply need a cellular capable IPad for GPS ability. Does not need to be on a plan.

    Yes
*but if you do not have a data plan you will have to fully download the map area you are traveling to before you leave home. If you have a data plan and cell coverage then it will work “ live “

Thanks for your reply, appreciate it. I was eyeing the DMZ kit, but what I liked about the JD kit is that you don’t end up with those very low shackle hangers…

Not true at all with onx. I use Onx hunt religiously and all I have to do is pull my phone out. Service or not. Never once had to load a map.

Here’s the mounting stuff we bought.

Finalized my order with Tim today. There’s a reason 99% of leaf setups out there are torsion style like DMZ. You won’t even find many race trucks that aren’t torsion style.

Doesn't help if you cross-sport in the rocks, though. The torsion style is superior for the desert and dirt, for sure, though.

No, there’s truth to that. But you’re also dragging big ass springs under the axle as it is with SUA. Driver awareness goes a very long way in preserving your parts.
