This is a good point, well said. In my world while working there it was more of getting hollered at (at times) for not responding quickly enough to a work request, or in my wife’s world, a prof. wanting her to change the entire rules of her event because they ignored every one of my wife’s emails for months.

Obviously you have nothing else to do and their job is the most important thing you'll ever come across. /sarcasm

I've been working on laying out a different office that currently has one person in it and they want to put 2 in there. It's usually a week from the time I send an email until they respond. Now that they've submitted an official work order, all of a sudden their completed by date is a week and a half. Hurry up and wait much?

    You would think...

On the other hand I had a fellow work for me, his smallest hammer was a two pounder (he had several larger  ).

Try using a 1/4" chisel or a 1/8" punch with a two pound hammer - he was a nice guy, honest, reliable & hard working --
-- he also had no business being in a maintenance position. :frusty:

Everyone has their knack, unfortunately his was to do the absolutely most boneheaded thing at the worst possible time. :annoyed:

The air and electric tools were something I routinely repaired, I went to the plumbing supply house 2 miles away (with my phone) and was gone perhaps 25 minutes maximum -- upon my return he has a $2000 dollar air tool completely disassembled on the bench -- WTF!

He says "...you weren't here so I had to make a command level decision..." :goingcrazy:
One of the few times I genuinely wanted to beat someones @$$.

I was 2 miles away -- with my phone...

No need for an apology, what you do is interesting as well as sometimes entertaining. :fistbump:

Remember, to me AutoCad is any old Cadillac built after about 1953 when Hydra-Matic became a standard feature. :D

I think I finally am caught up in here. Was only about 2000+ posts behind.
Been a busy last few weeks starting mid March.

Our youth softball league started on March 16th but I do most of the field maintenance so I had been going for a couple weeks prior. Wife and I run the snack shack so we were responsible for buying and setting everything up. I also coach a team so had practices and the such thrown in between everything else. Son plays baseball at another location so lots of running around to practices and games each week.

Then had some plumbing issues arrive and 3 trips out finally have them under control for now. Shorted out float to turn the lift station on when it fills up as it is located below the main sewer line. Then a small leak in the cold water copper line going to the water heater. And a trap primer that was leaking into the wall and flooding the bathroom, luckily it has a shut off right before and access from behind the wall so has since dried out and been replaced. All this is at our softball fields

New neighbors behind us had 3 trees taken down and the company needed access from my side yard so had to move some stuff around so they could work.

At the shop we have been working on putting a 5.3LS out of a Yukon into my brothers father in laws 1990 blazer. Everything is mostly in and hooked up. Just waiting on the wiring harness to be finished up.

Also took in an Oregon Ducks softball game over the weekend with the family. Turned into about a 4 hour game with 2 rain delays. Kids powered through and was nice to get out of town for a couple of days.

Had a bunch of school board meetings come up as well since I was voted in last July. Been having some management issues internally so lots of extra meetings to deal with that.

The most recent topic in here being about sleep, I haven’t gotten much lately. Seem to fall asleep in the living room chair every night but toss and turn for a few hours in bed. 4-5 hours a night of sleep has been the norm for a while now. Just like the rest, can’t seem to shut my brain off. My wife falls asleep in about 15 seconds after laying down. :annoyed: Might have to try writing things down and see if that helps or turns to random words that make no sense.

Here are some pictures of some of what’s been going on. Hopefully will not fall so far behind again. It’s taken me a week to get caught back up.

I am in my 34th year of working in municipal recreation. Thank you for all you have done, are doing and will do in the future for the youth in your community and your community in general. You will never receive the entire credit you deserve and you will have to listen to people complain who do not contribute other than to complain. You ARE making a difference! And try the list idea. Here is a template if it works for you. I use this at work and update it quite frequently.

Edit: One very important part of the process is that after the list is created you have to pause a moment while holding the list and mentally give yourself permission to let the list hold onto your thoughts for you so when you put it down you are temporarily letting go of what you have written down. If you lay down and think of something else, add it to the list then let it go with the knowledge that you can pick up the list in the morning.

Our other neighbor came by today (we’ve met her twice) and talked to my wife for about 45 minutes. Whew, she unloaded about the one who wants to control everything

One thing the lady said who came by was when were we going to finish putting asphalt millings on the rest of the driveway. Wife told her we spent $650 on two loads, only got $140 from two of the other neighbors. She said if yawl want to get a load or two we’ll be glad to give towards that and told her where we got it :eek:

I really enjoy reading about what the other folks in this thread do for a living (or in their spare time).
I drive a forklift in an ice cream factory so you all pretty much have me beat as far as interesting goes. But free grub, so there's that. :)
