I always wonder who it is with 500k liquid that has willingness to fuck around with account changes for a measly $1000. Like guys, that's not even 1 trading day of value change.

i wouldn't be surprised if there are hidden fees somewhere in the process that completely negate the $1000 "bonus"

Well, as perspective, if they offered you $1 bonus to move $500 from your account with broker A over to broker B, would you do it?

    Hardly worth the trouble.

I *assume* most people with 500k+ invested understand percentages, but perhaps I'm mistaken about that. I have found big numbers sometimes make otherwise reasonable people into idiots.

If you retire and move your 401k to an IRA, you're probably looking at a 500k transfer. Your old 401k plan fees were paid for by the company, but now that you're separated from the company, the management fees are on you. So you transfer it out to an IRA, or whatever else.

Would you bring your transfer to the broker giving you 0$ or 1000$? They all do the same thing anyway (there abouts). Might as well get the grand out of it.

Vanguard's unique and ethical ownership structure is worth way more to me than $1000.

Also, people stay at one job/401k more than 2 years? Weird.

Flip a coin, really. VG is good. I am with Fidelity. :notsure:

But yeah I agree, 1k on a scale of 500k+, I wouldn't let that sway me if I had other ideas/plans. But if I was throwing darts and didn't care...

This and my last were fully vesting at 3, plus tuition commitments and whatnot at the last one. I figure 3-5 will be my sweet spot considering. That said....If I can stick around here, the 5 minute commute is bitchin'.

That dry powder $SPY buy...looks nice.

Imagine not buying the fud dips they manufacture to reset positions.

I really think there is an enormous risk in holding through an announcement like that, and a huge benefit in sitting on cash

    Yeah.
I used to work for a major PC manufacturer that would get your computer to you quickly but wouldn't pay vendors for the parts for 90 days. They had an entire floor of people playing with that float.

Net 90 is getting popular. It becomes a "we know what we have for expenses next quarter for sure" sort of thing.

We had shooliers tell us F U pay me, or we stop supplying to you. Those suppliers who are specifically vetted by our customers and we have to use? Yeah, they make the rules. It was hilarious to watch.

Beginning to exercise my “stable value fund” ‘ till after November. See if I can’t keep more dry powder and fight another day. Still buying dips this week and last with my fun money! GE was strong last week. I was hoping for a 3.2 not a 3.5 CPI! Bummer, PPI helped! Small bet on tomorrows C earnings report…fingers Xd

As someone who gets paid on commission, Net 90 is the bane of my existence. I'll always try and spice it up with something like 5%15N90. Pay that bitch quick and get a fat discount. We also require 50% down on anything over $20k, so that helps a lot

Yeah we have a 1.5%30 I think. It's not a whole lot, but for raw materials where we spend millions yearly spend, it's a good one.

You'd love construction and the "pay-when-paid" contract clauses.
    1. 2nd tier sub bills sub
    2. sub bills gc
    3. gc bills owner
    4. owner pays gc
    5. gc pays sub
    6. sub pays 2nd tier sub
See 1 and 6? That's me. First to bill, last to be paid.
The GC, making 5m on the job, doesn't want to "finance the job".
Sub, making 500k on the job, doesn't want to "finance the job".
2nd tier sub, making 5k on the job, doesn't want to "finance the job" but gets to anyway.

You gotta take jobs with a better GC man. Our subs get paid as soon as we receive their invoice. Which is before we send the bill to the homeowner. Residential is way better then commercial that way.
