just a couple of things tbh
Well been a fun day so far! My buddy I rude with was out on a dirtbike trip and was heading home around Fayetteville when his 2022 tundra decided to make a new window in the motor.... So off we went to go get his trailer back for him( he asked us for help) and to get stuff from the truck for him. Bummer about the truck but it seems to be somewhat common and the dealer it's at has seen this a good bit sadly..

We also went to one of the first Walmarts that they use for experimental stuff lol because why not?

He shouldn't have been flooring it past 80 and then immediately letting off to 0% throttle lol

That's not what happened... It lost oil pressure and windowed the block it's becoming common on these trucks

5.7 is the best, mines not going anywhere

im more likely to get a new Tacoma or 4Runner than the new tundra if I have to replace mine.

The common failure is the waste gates exploding due to the conditions I described above.

And it seems to only be the 22s lol

Why? There's no "new" tech in either the Taco or 4Runner.

    I said IF lol

I have zero plans of getting rid of the tundra unless it ends up totaled

It is not only the 22s... You should look at the forums more saw a few 23s and 24s that had the issue hopefully they fix it thou and no that's not fully the issue yes it is wastegate but it also has another cause with it can't remember what it was tbh

Oh idk it's a brand new engine a brand new trans and it's not fully tested so I would wait not everything Toyota puts out is gold man..

Been in Lexus production for several years

My info comes from what dealers are seeing in warranty claims, not squeaky wheels in forums.

0 - 2 buddy boi, got any more? :goingcrazy:

Congrats? I think? I've been in Toyota products since I could drive minus one year nothing special there.

I get it's a forum but after talking to a dealer and how it's becoming common place with these trucks it seems they have a problem and people posting about them more... Hell it started the same way with the ranger it was one then it was many. I can see Toyota doing a better job about fixing it over Ford thou...

So you consider the fact it's similar to the old 2.4 that it's the same and it won't have annnnny new issues that might be problematic? The trans from what I remember is the 8 speed from the Highlander with changes done to it so again you don't see a possibility for issues? If not go ahead and go buy a first year and let us know how it does but for me nah not trusting that shit

Same family as the 2.4 in many other models, with key differences.

Not the same transmission as the Highlander. Same transmission as the Hilux though, as in.... Current gen. Already being used around the world.

New Hilux gen for 2025 incoming though. Most likely will keep the same transmissions.

Nah. Im broke. I'll let other fun people pay greedy asshole dealer markups lol.

I'll just let you do the Ford testing for us :D

5.7 is a beast. May try to just replace rebuild mine if I can keep mostly in good shape overall

I have high hopes for the new 2.4 since it's been a great engine but since it's new id still say hold off for now just to let the kinks get beat out ya know lol

Ah I see that trans is a good one thou I was told it was the Highlander one which made me kinda skeptical about it but the Hilux one is good thou

Haha true those prices are nuts on new trucks even base models now are pushing 40k...

Nope I'm good! Now if I don't have to pay for it I'd gladly borrow a raptor! That one looks fun!

it really is I was looking for one and a fjc to trade the ranger with but after driving the tundra as much as I liked it... I just couldn't love it? I don't like full size trucks they feel to large to me so taco or fjc it was and wellll I couldn't find the fjc I wanted so taco lol. I mean if your engine is still good why rebuild lol just let her run man!
