That’s what I was thinking… maybe the inside material is going to be higher end and soundproofing better?

I kinda like the new 4R… when it’s time to upgrade my truck, that and a trailer might be in the running… unless it’s like 70k. It’s supposed to start off less expensive than the LC but prices get high quick

 

I hear ya… the wife’s ‘09 TrailBlazer is still holding on, but she has had the itch for something new for a while. Once these new Runners start hitting the streets, I may try to get her a new ‘24 while they are trying to unload the old stock for cheap. I’m just not sold on how these new 4cyl engines are gonna hold up, especially when towing 4k pounds every weekend. But that definitely depends on rates and all too. Right now it’s just not gonna happen.

 

Just an update - it wasn’t a cvj axle. I thought I had two installed - was just one. That is encouraging.

 

Hey yall, sorry I've been MIA, I was bouncing back and forth between upstate NY and Canada from Thursday through yesterday, so reception has been pretty lacking. I'm back though!

Does anybody feel like hitting AOAA next Saturday, the 20th? I have a couple buds that are going, figured I'd put the invite out there. We'll be keeping it fairly easy since some of them are stock and new builds. My ol' lady and I have a campsite for the night so we'll definitely be there all day.

Also, does anyone have an old 5ft softopper, just the canvas? I'm looking for one for a project, I want to paint it like the pride flag and don't necessarily want to have to drop cash on a brand new topper for that...

 

So I ordered an OEM axle for $360 shipped, vs CVJ reman for $420. I'll still need to put the better boots over the new axle, but I have a CV boot tool so it shouldn't be difficult; once I get an air compressor. Though just typing that out, maybe it'd be worth the $60 to have it already with the right boots on it? (sigh). whatever. I'll deal with it.

 

I glanced at a thread in the 4th gen section, some guy was claiming that he had only a few hundred miles on his stick shift Taco before he lost half of the gears. The 6 speed became a 3 speed.. He claimed the regional service rep told him that Toyota knows there's an issue with the manual gear boxes and they will need to be all replaced. If this is true, Toyota isn't off to a great start with this 'new and improved' generation.

 

Yiiiiikes that would be a really unfortunate problem if it’s true.
