Ugh...came outside the other day just to notice an ugly raised blister & cracking in the finish on the side of the bed (above the rear wheel arch). Other than getting it professionally done-and probably paying quite a bit for it), is there a DIY fix I can try? I was thinking of masking off the affected area, sanding down to bare metal, priming and repainting. It doesn't have to be perfect, just something that will prevent further weather damage. Open to suggestions. :)

That is from a prior repair/refinish

IMO ‘paint prep’ was not done properly to the metal in that area.
    Paint was sprayed
After a period of time, the paint stops adhering/sticking to metal
    Bubbles and eventually start cracking/peeling

you could sand/prep that area, 4inches away from border of the peeling, and rattle can it. But will look worse. Same with touch up paint
Unless you have access to spray booth and clear coat

    how about this…..
Since you have owned, has ever been at bodyshop for that panel?
99% of bodyshop’s have lifetime warranty on paint/workmanship
    This would definitely apply

$1200-$1500 for rpr/professional respray if paying out of pocket

    Thanks for the reply.

This vehicle was purchased brand new from the dealership in Nov. 2002.
