I wonder where he gets that price, Toyotas website has the current at 40,705. Maybe adding destination or possibly he is skipping over the 2wd pricing but close enough..

He lives in San Diego, air is more expensive there.

Finding several TRD Pro 4R at $3,000-4,000 off MSRP. The temptation grows.

This is how BASIC pick up trucks used to be in US too, and now we are to over 50K Tacoma. Crazy, its like less performance more bs eye candy to waste money into.

In middle east they still are dirt cheap and made of plastic, not like this but very cheap plastic, and they are cheap. Not sure what is the obsession over here in market with the luxury in pick up trucks.

    Less bark, more bite.

    New trucks ?

    More bark, less bite

I'm shocked they didn't include the MT for the 4Runner. What an easy win. Must have something to do with supply chain since they're made in Japan, not Mexico. Still, a miss.

Agreed. I’ve always leaned towards the Tacoma because I prefer having a bed. The 4Runner not having a manual option makes my decision much easier. It has always been this way ever since the 4Runner dropped its manual option starting with the 4th gen

    Well, I like it. I've owned a 2017 SR5 4x4 4Runner and a 2020 TRD OR Premium 4x4 4Runner.

The interior design has a Lexus feel to it, the auto power and close rear lift hatch, the extra power and the exterior style refresh are all positives for me. I was really disappointed with the Tundra and Sequoia and not overly thrilled with the new Tacoma.

I think Toyota actually put some thought into the 4Runner. The biggest drawbacks are less rear leg room and the dorky snorkel on the trail hunter trim. The rear side windows have a bit of Nissan Xterra style to them, but I'm sure the added visibility will be worth the design.

Of course, I'll have to see it in person, sit in the seats and drive it before deciding on a purchase.

Could be worse. F150's have it nearly behind the steering wheel.

The manual transmission in the Tacoma is built in Thailand. Could ship it to Japan, or build it in Japan like they do for the Hiace.

My point is, it’s not a supply chain or location related decision.

The 4Runner dropped the manual a couple of years before the 4th gen. 2000 was the last year for a manual 4Runner.
