Today would be good for some mushroom hunting. But here I am on a roof instead

When I was a kid - 9,10,11 years old - my great uncle who was born in Slovakia, taught me to mushroom pick. He and I would pick them and he would then sell them on Braddock Avenue back in the early 70s. I can't remember much of what he taught me today, so I would never go out and pick them now, but those were fun times. He would give me a couple of quarters for my efforts.

 

I just pick a couple different types usually. Morels, chicken of the woods, and maybe some oysters

 

I wouldn't know where to start. Knowing my luck I'd pick the poisonous ones

I mean, every mushroom is edible once...

Out of surgery, heading home. Knee is sore but ok. Thanks for the best wishes. Now for recovery, the part I dread the most because I'm always go, go go. Probably going to need the left knee done before too long.

Raining steady here. Grass is going to need cut again soon. At least I got my walk in with my dog a few hours ago.

 

Anyone think it might be a massive nerd-fest but neat to meet/camp/etc in/around Gettysburg this summer? So many things to see, and learn and whatnot. Could be a camping thing nearby, and then caravan audio tour (the HereStory Gettysburg ap is very well done), or we get a bus to ferry us around. Or we could descend upon a BnB or Hotel (if it's a larger group)...I'm a Gettysburg Foundation Society member and I'm willing to contact some of the foundation folks and see if we can work something out for special tours and all that. But if they can't help, I'm still okay to do some of the leg work to make it happen.

Bonus points if you can find President Lincoln

 

Finally landed a job. Only down side it's a seasonal position but it's better than nothing. Runs April through October.
