I bought a kit here on TACOMAWORLD from a member that makes them. He puts it all together with step by step instructions. I just added the blue mirrors, I will try to find that thread.

the hardest part was running the cables through the rubber grommet in the doors, but not too bad at all. And yes it came with button. The best part of those mirrors is the anti glare, it really knocks bright light down.

I’m not sure if he’s still making kits but can probably be pieced together

Upsizing to 265/75/16 A/Ts was my #1 fav Mod, until I got the 2" Bilstein 5100 lift. Then it became my 2nd fav mod.

Tweeter upgrade and underseat 8" Powered Sub was a big improvement, hence also a fav mod.

Anytime front camera was a nice addition too, going over a hill and not seeing below was sometimes nerve wracking.

    I could go on.......

I had to change my tires to go from 17 inch to 16. Otherwise it was fine.
Above is a tread on many who have done it.

My favorite mod is the steel protection. Its the only mod that I both use everyday, and gives me pleasure everytime I think about it. So much worry is gone is slow traffic, parking lots, and any uneven terrain that cars just couldn't try.

Once I get air lockers, the answer will be air lockers.

I have an 06' access cab, was my fathers before he passed a couple years ago. It was bone stock with a 115k on it. just started putting some work into it a couple weeks ago, first thing i had to do was replace the tires, checked the date code on them and they were 12 years old. put some cooper discoverer ATP II ,then i completely replaced the entire stereo system with a pioneer nex4200, infinity speakers all the way around, and made a custom downfiring box for a infinity 12" ref1200s, and sound deadened and closed cell foamed both doors and the entire back of the cab under the jump seats and back wall. then swapped the OEM grill for raptor style from Yipih, and painted the surround to match super white, added a backup camera, and also microphone for the headunit. Saturday i went and picked up a shell for it, a leer 122 Hi-rise with thule squarebars. next i think i'm going to build some shelves and a bed system. and probably solar once i get the hooke road roof rack. also need to order a swing arm for my bike rack.

I'm 21 but been driving stick for 5 years. I've driven quite a few different manual transmissions and this one is by far the worst, for all the reasons you listed. It's driving me crazy and making me want to get rid of the truck. Have you completely fixed all these issues yet? How did you go about tuning it? I would love to hear from someone with the same complaints as i have, because I really want to love this truck, but still can't get used to driving it after three years. Thanks in advance.

Eliminating the rev hang is the last thing I need to do, but I haven't gotten it tuned yet. Need to do other maintenance items before I get tuned. Eliminating the clutch accumulator makes a huge difference in the drive/feel. I'd recommend doing that if you haven't already.

I have done quite a bit of mods, but my favorite has to be the wheels and tires.

Snug top Rebel, Thule tracks, ditch tracks, Bagged rear suspension, F/R anytime camera, intermittent wiper switch...
    I’ve added:
    Intermittent wipers
    Custom switch and OBA panels
    Heated seats & seat covers
    Heated mirrors
    Extra horns
    Fogs
Auxito back up bulbs(so I can see what the camera is pointed at)
    F&R cameras
    License plate relocated
DIY Satoshi grill to slow down larger rocks
    Glove box and console organizers
    Husky floor mats
    Always hot 12v outlet
    Permanent phone mount
    DIY burl shift knob
    Meso dome & maps
    HUD
    Sound deadening
Rhino ditch tracks (modified DC set)
OBA w/lift bags and OTF control.
All get used but it’s the last two that are indispensable for how I use the truck since I needed both load carrying for weight as well as for length. Lift bags don’t increase the load capacity but eliminate sag and bump stop hits for any loads I carry without adding any significant weight and the ditch tracks allow for bar(s) to be mounted on the cab or/as well as the cap. The I4 seems particularly sensitive to drag so the bars are on QR mounts and are stowed in the cap on a rack passenger side when not actually in use. Yesterday had two on the cap transporting a 7’ squeeze plank and today one on the cap & one on the cab for a 20’ extension ladder. I’ve had 20’ rdwd decking and several hundred pounds of Ipe 4” x 4” posts on them.

i had all your same complaints when I first got my truck, and all of them were relatively easy fixes. Rev hang and throttle control can both be fixed with a tune, I tuned my own truck because I like to mess around with stuff like that but you’ll probably get more bang for your buck with a professional tune, zero rev hang and great throttle response. the accumulator delete fixes the mushy and vague pedal feel, I’d also recommend a hurst or similar short throw to fix the vague and floppy shifter.

After doing all that the truck went from being one of the worst manuals to drive to one of the best, shifts like a truck version of a Miata transmission which is pretty much the standard by which I judge all manuals

feel free to message me if you have any more questions about these mods, I plan to have a stainless clutch soft line made as well to get a little more pedal feel but for now it drives amazing
