My bad it's the med/spicy -- I'm on 37s, RCAs, tundra rack, 5.29s, ARBs locked front and rear. I dont't have any of the lurching. My throttle reponse comes in smoothly. Maybe I'm just used to it by now.

Can confirm the trans temps come why down in 4low and they stay down.

Makes sense getting med/spicy with 37s. I'm on 33s stock gear, so I'm assuming mild/med will be best for daily driving and offroading. Let's hope it pulls well when fully loaded.

I have lite/mild, one size up tires, no lurch all smooth. I’m picky and haven’t noticed any problems so far. I pulled my trailer to town with UTV, pull and drive went fine with hills. I’m a pavement driver.

Manual transmission on mine, but I found Medium to be really aggressive. I have no idea who would want spicy/SS. I like Mild on mine.

Sport + (different gang, but a tune nonetheless) and I use it in 4HI and LO. It’s not jumpy at all. Smooth input. For me, it makes going over obstacles a bit more “easier.” I don’t have to press on the pedal too much, unless needed.

It depends if you're running larger tires or have more extra weight with all your add ons. If you're stock it would make sense running lower settings but if you are heavy it makes sense to go higher in throttle response.

I have the mild/med tune on mine and I feel like the mild setting is too touchy out the gate. It's super jumpy at first. Rest of the power band feels good. Med (ECT) is way too aggressive.

Also has a shifting problem when getting up to speed on the highway. Stays in low gear for too long.

    @overlandtailor can you fix this?

Sure sounds like you are not on the appropriate settings for your taste. Please reach out to your tuner, and schedule to have you try a lower sensitivity setting.

It’s the KDMAX Pro10 tune. The moment I felt 1st and 2nd gear I started to call it the Powerglide Tune. Loved that GM transmission.

The normal setting acts the same way, but with Sport +(spicy?) the Taco has more pull when leaving from a stop. The best way I can describe it is it’s like when ECT is engaged on a stock tune. I remember lightly giving pedal input and the Taco took off nicely and kept momentum with little input thereafter. I loved to use it in city traffic. It made it easier to keep up without having to mesh on the gas.

Wheeling is the same. You just have to put trust in the Yota TRAC system. :D

Most of the time it’s minimal input. Toyota’s TRAC system is that good for most wheeling.

My Taco is stock, less the stock height suspension and am locker.

In or out of 4th, the mild/medium is right for me

Is your truck stock? Or it has other added modifications/weight?

I have reached out to my tuner and will go with a lower setting but the jumpiness in the beginning of the throttle is what I dislike. I think the throttle response in the rest of the power band is good, except for gear holding at speed on the freeway. Hoping these can be corrected with an updated tune from you guys.

Anyone ever notice, the only time a tuning thread is started in the main 3rd gen forum, it is about ott? Maybe ott users starting tuning threads should stay in the tuning forum, or get booted for awhile? Seems to me, someone is circumventing the forum rules, that were set in place. To me it is shameless self advertising. I mean it is every week, and sometimes, multiple times a week.

Turns out on my truck with med/spicy either in 4lo or 4hi the truck would jump forward when accelerator pedal is engaged. Throttle response was too touchy. I tuned down to mild and haven't yet gone out since. I try feathering in 4lo but still notice the throttle was difficult to control. It definitely felt like the whole truck would just jump forward rather than crawl slowly with control.

Med/spicy setting definitely feels like it has more torque down low compare to stock. Overall with my experience with med/spicy setting, it was hard to control going over rocks/obstacles.

With mild setting, I did notice the throttle did smooth out alot. The way it feels now I'm certain it'll be more controllable in 4lo and 4hi.
