Battery terminal is the better route, 'return to ground', the fender won't make it better.

It does sound like you've ruled out everything outside the harness. Countless people have run the HS harness without this issue, so I'm at a loss here. Might be a lot to ask from HS but I wonder if you could exchange your harness with a new one from Mike?

I sent him an email earlier, we’ve been in contact with everything I’ve been trying. He’s been helpful. Definitely not mad at them as a company just confused why this would randomly happen. I’ll have to run normal bulbs till I can get it solved.

It is a very small business run by an automotive lighting enthusiast outside of his day job, not a major corporation like most other lighting vendors. Keep that in mind. But Mike's never disappointed and his work is top notch so I'd continue to work the problem with him, even if it isn't the most expedient.

Exactly that’s why I’m thankful he’s been willing to help so far!
They don’t look bad, I mean I’ve only had the set up for maybe 2 months now.

Could the actual stock headlight sockets being gunked up cause the issues I’m having? I may replace those because they’re looking a little rough

Well everyone I feel a little silly. I just got done swapping in new headlight sockets to which the issue was still there. While doing so I noticed one of the wires to one of the relay blades in the aftermarket harness was out. Popped it back in and everything works fine

Mike from Headlight Harness was willing to send me a whole new harness though, glad he didn’t have to, but excellent customer service either way!

Stoked you got it figured out. Doesn't matter how infuriating the core problem is, what matters is identifying the actual root cause and eliminating the trouble. I've got all sorts of those left to deal with myself. Celebrate each win, especially the hard fought ones.

Another extremely grateful consumer of Crash’s expertise and recommendations. The headlight services harness and the recommended osrams went in about a week ago. The difference between this and the Philips +150’s, which I found a major upgrade when I bought them, is ridiculous.

Thank you for putting this together sir, if our paths ever cross your drinks are on me.

Well boys its my turn I guess. I have a 2015 Tacoma TRD with factory headlights. I read thru this tread and man there is a lot of pages. I want to upgrade my headlight to the TRD Pro lights. What all do I need? I want them bright. Any wiring harness change?
    Any links given much appreciated.
    thanks

so you'll want to go back to the first post and look at the second bulb listed and the upgraded harness listed in it

It’s all detailed on page 1, albeit, it’s a lot of information. You want the relay harness and Osram 90/100W bulbs. Links are on the first post on page 1.
