What octane gas do I use in my 1995 Tacoma with the 2.7L 4 cylinder engine?

Unless you're in Colorado, then 85.

    Carry on.

The Compression ratio on my Tacoma 4-cylinder engine 3RZ is 9.5 to 1. Seems like a very high compression ratio for regular gas. Does anybody know why we would use premium gas on any of these engines ? I doubt the compression ratio has much to do with the recommended octane.

I fly airplanes and the engines compression ratio is 8.5 to 1 and we use 100 octan low lead gas. Using lower octane results in preignition and detonation and eventual destruction of the pistons.

You're over thinking it. Save all that thinking for flying... just put whatever gas you want in the truck and enjoy it thought free.
