    Hello,

I'm hoping someone can help me identify the wiring on my steering wheel controls. If anyone has a wire diagram or reference it would be much appreciated. I'm looking to see which of these wires would be the power wire for the LED illumination. Any insight would be appreciated. This is a 2009 with left audio controls only.

Generally green is Toyota's color for illumination wires. Best bet would be to take the controls off the wheel and just trace the wires to see where they go on the circuit board.

Appreciate the chart. May be a stretch, but the reason I’m asking is because I just recently retrofitted a RAV4 steering wheel. It has controls on both the left and right side. The left side of the steering wheel is illuminating, but the right side is not. I’m wondering what I will have to do to get the right side to illuminate. It’s the same plug, just slightly different wire colors and locations. As you can see from the attachment, the right side controls has 3 wires coming out of it. The White/Black & Pink go to the connector and the yellow one goes into the left side controls and attaches to the board. I’m wondering what from the right side plug I will need to connect/re-connect to get it to illuminate as well.

    What buttons are not illuminating?
I can't seem to find that yellow wire on the diagrams.
But there are many to look at, it might help to know what buttons are not lighting up.

Here is a picture of the steering wheel. The only buttons that illuminate are the two large white buttons on both sides. “Mode” on left and “Display” on right. The left side is identical to the Tacoma controls and everything works & illuminates as it should. The right side “Display” won’t function when pushed since Tacoma didn’t have this option which I’m okay with, but I’d still like for it to illuminate if possible. So I’m trying to figure out what I need to hook up for it to get some power. This steering wheel is plug and play for everything on the left side, but from the earlier photos of the both the Tacoma and RAV4 plugs you can see the colors differ at some of the locations and obviously the RAV4 has the additional wire coming from the right side since it has this display button.

    Do the audio controls work?

My diagrams don't tell me exactly what the IL+2 Ged Wire LED goes to.
I assume the the Mode and Display buttons.

Here's the pink wire. It would help to have a better picture of the main connector (wire colors) and the back of the wheel at the sides.

Yes, everything on the left side works as it should. Seek, Volume, Mode and it also illuminates. Just no illumination on the display side. I’m thinking I should be able to tap one of the tree wires coming from the right side switch, I just don’t know which one it would be and where to tap it.

IL+2 goes to a junction connector that is powered by the 7.5 amp panel fuse.

Do you mean where the wires connect to the control board on the right side switch? I plan to take the wheel off this weekend so can disassemble again and take some pictures. But just for reference. The right side switch has 3 wires coming from it. White/Black which goes into the top 2nd position on the plug. Pink which goes into the bottom 4th position on the plug & yellow which runs directly to the left side switch control board which it is soldered to. I appreciate these diagrams, but to be honest I’m not too certain at what I’m looking at.

Sorry. It doesn't say which buttons, there are three of them according to the three resistors.

Quick question. Do you know if the Rav4 had JBL, non-JBL or navigation?

Also. How many spaces are in the white connector? 10 or 12?

This is what I see for a 2012 Rav4. You are looking at the front of the connector, not the side where the wires are. 7, 9 and 10 are not used.

Good Questions. From looking at the pictures of the RAV4 it was taken out of, non-JBL, no navigation. From my understanding, the display was used to toggle between outside temp, avg. mpg and instant mpg and that is all. The connector is 10 pin

That helps. Some more digging to do. You just want the right side button to light up, correct?

That is all. The left side already illuminates and buttons work properly. All I want is the right side display button to illuminate. here is a slightly better picture of the connector. 10 pin. From left to right:

    Top: Red,Black/White,Blank, Blank, Blue(Horn)
Bottom: Brown, Grey, White, Pink, Blank
(Yellow doesn’t go into connector, it runs from left switch board to right.)

And thank you for all your help.
