Those optioned out tacos are going for around 55k here right now. You have to get on a list if you want one though. I would like to drive one. Maybe by winter the people will have settled down and let some build up on the lots.

I have no idea where you found an OR for $61,000. Dealer dreams, I suppose.

My 2016 OR cost $36,000. In today's dollars, that's $47,000. I expect to pay $45G this go around for more truck.

Got a $46000 Trd off road or an sr5 just under $47000 both talked down to $42500 before tax and fees or 8-10% off MSRP. Both with heated seats, heated steering wheel, JBL stereo and some tech upgrades like blind spot, park assist and such. $460 a month lease, zero down for 39 months with a 75% residual at lease end which equates to $33900 buyout. If they hold value it will be worth more at end as in previous gens. Haven’t pulled trigger yet. Still trying to get more off the price by pinning dealers against each other. But I wouldn’t buy a first year as of yet, lease only til bugs worked out. And with Toyota financing as lease agent you could buy at anytime during lease. About 2 years in would be the spot to decide that.

Haven’t we seen this one before? Didn’t we make fun of the useless bedliner and the stingy gas allotment already?

It’s also the detruckificationTM of the American psyche and the spending habits that accompany such conditions. The cosplay element of the new ugly fourthy is only part of it. These are people of a culture that spend $500 or $1,000 on deductibles because someone scratched their bumper. My granddad, a farmer, would have chuckled at all the softies here whining about their scuffs and dings and creaks on their TRUCKS with fancy disconnecting sway bars and $1,600 racks that only carry nippled plastic boards in the sun.

I might drop 60k on a 4th gen, but it would need to be a Xtra Cab 4x4 with the ttV6 and 10spd out of the Tundra. OffRoad package and the front end swapped from the 6G 4R.

New member here, been driving my 2010 since new and am waiting till summer/fall to pull the trigger on a 24 Limited . Test drove one a few weeks ago and was surprised at far we have came with just power/torque and tech. I live in Tampa Bay and there is a certain dealer on Fletcher Ave with market adjustments of $9,999.00 on the Limited I was looking at ( 55k + 10k + $1500 to SE Toyota for bs ). They had $4,999.00 market adjustments on the 7 or 8 2023 Taco's that they still have. Crazy !!

100 years from now, automotive historians may look at 2024 and the $60k Tacoma as the tipping point for people paying way too much for pickup trucks.

And in 2124, the redesigned Toyota Tacoma TRD OR’s MSRP of $185,000 will be hotly debated here, on the Gen16 forum.

But will it have a driver’s side grab handle?

Why would you want to buy a first year model of anything? I even avoid second year models. (I did buy a first year Sienna but its drivetrain was solid, having come from the Camry line.)

Am I the only one that thinks 40k base tacomas are crazy. I feel like these crazy prices are trying to make it seem like 40k is reasonable.

Gone are the days of base tacomas around 30k mark.

Base Tacomas used to msrp for $12,028. Am I the only one who thinks it’s crazy that I can’t still buy one for that?

Add 4wd and 4 door to that. I wonder what percentage of people are buying that truck you just built. The back seat is useless for that, I'm guessing like maybe 3% of sales or less.

MSRP for 2015 tacoma trd pro was like 38k. Obviously the new one is more capable and we are in 2024 now, but do you really think it's going to be worth probably 65kish?
