That's curious, but it can be hard to get a good read on them, what timing light are you using?

 

A very high end looking Bosch my neighbor has, let me see if I can find the model.

Looks like a very nice unit, I'd read that manual closely. Make sure you're in 2 stroke mode, set the advance on the dial to 0 and since you're just trying to read what it is at idle. It will jump around since they're always adjusting. It says on your ECU you can put it into a check mode by jumpering TE1 and E1 in the underhood diagnostic box before observing the timing

 

@Speedytech7 Found my problem... Got a cheap timing light and found that my trigger offset is actually 185 degrees... Which means I was 30 degrees retarded

 

I haven't seen a 5VZ that wasn't in the low 150s before, are you sure?

 

Pretty sure, used a timing light on the stock ECU to confirm it was in time and working, then I locked the Speeduino at 10 degrees and adjusted the offset until it was reading 10 with the timing light.

 

Hmm, is there a possibility your balancer has slipped on its rubber?

 

Wouldn't the stock ECU read wrong then? Also before I adjusted the offset I had less power than a lawnmower, now up until 2.5-3k RPM it feels almost stock when I drive it.

 

Hmm, as long as it reads right comparably between the two I guess. It's hard to get an exact number out of the stock ecu as you know

 

Stock ECU was reading about 8-7, but I was mostly using it to confirm that when I measured the Speeduino that my timing light was actually working. I agree that it's weird, but it works now and I'm making progress Also thanks for that Haltech tune, I was able to transpose the Spark Advance map into TunerStudio and it seems to be working great!

 

I'm glad it's working, looking forward to an update in your build thread to see all of this

 

@treyus30 I am going to build one of your can multigauge things in a week or so for a buddy who just put an Elite 2500 in his FD RX7. Car came with a three gauge pillar thingy and he wants to run the three gauges off the Haltech. I'm gonna follow the instructions in your GitHub page but I may end up having questions. Trying some of the SSD1309 displays (says they're identical protocol wise to 1306 but larger display). Making some little 2" dia pod cases to print for each display.

 

Got a little render, gonna have to take it to a buddys to get a test print

If you use the larger one, there may be a 2 pixel horizontal buffer issue like there is on the 1.3" that I haven't gotten around to diagnosing yet. Lmk if you have any other issues though, I think you'll be my first external tester (that's at least communicated with me)

Curious how this turns out. I haven't been able to have much success with suspended planes like that

 

I'll have him print it face down and use super low infill support material. If it for some reason doesn't work but it should because it's a pretty large flat area then I'll just make the trim ring a separate piece.

 

@Speedytech7 you mentioned I should upgrade my rubber fuel lines if I’m going to be doing E85, well I’m doing my fuel pump next month (AEM E85 compatible pump) and was wondering what if you know what I’d need to do the fuel lines.

 

The one rubber feed line under the hood and the return hoses are the only ones that need to be changed. Can use bulk line to do the returns. But the under hood feed needs an M14 inverted flare to either barb or AN adapter and then a tight radius or banjo fitting for barb or AN on the back of the fuel rail. I have been slowly gathering parts to do this on mine and was going to make a write-up when I'm finished.
