My shift boot has separated at the bottom from the console.

Where can I find instructions to reinstall?

It's pricey to have it fixed at the dealer and I know that the console has to be taken apart for reinstallation. And, it's not as easy as popping it back in.

    Any help would be appreciated!

    Thanks!

Going from memory from the last time I had my center console out… the boot has a wire in it and it clips into the underside of the console.

It's insanely easy. Just clips. If you pull the cup holders out (they just lift straight out) you can reach in there enough to click it into place usually.

The bottom of the boot has a stiff wire that maintains its shape, you just need to bend it slightly so that it's inside the clips then release so it springs out and locks in.

Definitely don't go to a dealer for that!

I angled mine into the hole then pulled it up for the retainer to pop in secure, without removing console

The retainer wire in my Oem shift boot failed at the weld so I went with a replacement from redline. Great quality, however the redline retainer wire is a larger diameter than the Oem… I ended up using my dremel to slightly enlarge the diameter of the plastic retainer tabs in the center console. Also used a couple dabs quick epoxy on each tab for extra measure.

tl/dr: quick epoxy will help keep that shit in place.

I had to do the same widening for my redline boot.

Removing the center console is pretty easy but you don't really need to. You just need to pull up on the boot and work into the four clips that surround the opening. Here is a photos of the clips:

@shmn mine is a 2014 6-speed manual and as shmn mentioned the 3 cup holders in the console pops straight up.. from there I could reach forward to where the stick shift is and feel the wire around the perimieter of the bottom of the boot, and connectors in the plastic console. I did have to shift it around, so on my particular model it's the easiest method. I actually tried to pull up but it wouldn't align.

    Thanks everyone!

You guys with the Redline shift boot, what's the quality like? I saw mixed reviews on the Tacoma boot about fitment problems. I've been looking for a replacement shift boot because mine is faded and about to rip open. Apparently you can't just buy the shift boot from Toyota, have to buy the entire console which is not happening over here.

I have an extra one that I’d sell. Does $50 plus shipping sound fair?

Let me see what these guys with the Redline boots say, if not I’ll reach out. I notice yours is starting to show signs of wear up by the clip also. While nothing in comparison to mine though…

I love my redline. It's been 2 years I think and had no problems. Still looks brand new. Install took a little bit of work but it looks 10x better than factory.

That’s what I figured, hard to trust Amazon reviews.
Oddly enough I live in Worcester also.

Well if you want to take a look at my redline boot let me know! Or if you order and need some help with the install.

I should mention, it works much better if you get a collar adapter.

Yeah that looks good! I'm definitely going to get a collar adapter, I have in the TRD short shifter also which is going to require an adapter of sorts.

I managed to use the stock boot collar, it worked with a zip tie even though it was so tight over the leather opening the zip tie is probably over kill. Also had to bend the bottom square steel framing the leather shift boot sits in flat, so it would fit in the stock Tacoma plastic retention system.

Now I just need to install my bumper, shocks, leaf springs, upper control arms, shackle & hangers, wheels, and lights…..:anonymous:
