Cruiser, has a nicer dash to look at. Exterior sheet metal is more pleasing on the eyes.

While 4G Taco has grown on me and the 4R is literally the same thing in SUV form, still not crazy about it.

That said….at those prices, rather have a Volvo XC 90, since I like subtle styling over machismo, as it seems Toyota is catering to men with major insecurities. :D

Too much chrome on that Volvo for me and not enough meat on the tires for the terrible pot hole roads we have here. My wife would blow a tire every week with that.
It’s weird that Toyota went with the macho muscular look with the new 4R when most of the buyers/drivers seem to be women.

Kinda like Jeep Wranglers…mostly women drivers. Dunno, maybe they have something to prove too??? Lol!

Tires can be fixed! :) Can black out the chrome too if you wish.

4Runner, I like its styling better. Plus Land Cruiser was never and will not be ever be available with the TIMNA discount. Same reason I got the Taco, last generation of Tundra was not available thru TIMNA either.

I like the 4R exterior better but the LC interior is way better considering it doesn't have the flat screen TV on it. For that reason alone, I'd rather get the LC.

    Yeah.
I like the 4Runner looks better. No info on whether it gets the Torsen center diff, though. Only the Limited trim 4Runner previous got it, which is kind of a waste IMHO. It would be nice if they included it on a more off-road focused trim. That would be my main reason to choose one over the other, assuming the price difference wasn't immense. My bet is that it is no longer available on the 4Runner, gotta step up to the LC to get it.

Seeing the 4R cargo area, Land Cruiser does it better. Crazy how two models built on the same platform can be so different. Like the 4G Taco, the 4R is a bit too busy. Not sure who their target market is, action moms that need 12 cup holders, who would be far better off in a minivan, but wouldn’t be caught dead in one?

And why do these “adventure” vehicles have carpet in the cargo hold?

Those tumble seats in the 4Runner seem completely unnecessary and create more problems than benefits.

That and built in cup holders above the wheel wells. Takes up a lot of space.

Only thing I like about the new 4Runner is the rear side window throwback. lol!

I don’t mind the rear 1st gen style window but would prefer that the bottom of it lined up with the bottom of the rear door window and the bottom of the rear hatch window. It looks like some random window from a different vehicle that they just slapped on there.

Cup holders for the third row seats on a two row vehicle is pretty dumb too.

It wasn’t like that on the 1st Gen. Though the body line from the bottom of the front window all the way back was straight, probably why it doesn’t look all weird. These car designers must be quasi-functioning alcoholics or macro dosing shrooms to come up with this shit. lol!

Granted the Grand Highlander is a unibody, cargo area is so much more usable. Honestly would pick that over 4R or LC, and get better gas mileage. Base FWD Hybrid gets 37 city/34 Hwy.

That one had a removable top though and the bottom of the removable part lined up with the front door window and hatch window so there was at least a little bit of logic going on. The 6th gen looks like they just picked an arbitrary point for the window to start.

The interior space of the grand highlander does seem much better thought out and more useable. Too bad the exterior looks like a mini van.

Had an ‘85 that I bought in 1990, my very first Toyota and have been a fan ever since. Though they are starting loose me with some of the design choices they have made with the new models.
