Hi, anyone have the answer? I have a 2002 Tacoma prerunner 4cyl with 246K miles. I am sure fuel filter needs replacement by now. Confused by so many models and the locations.

Thanks for any help you guys can provide

3RZ and 2RZ both have the fuel filter underneath the intake plenum on the driver side of the engine. Easiest way to see it is to remove the driver side wheel and go through the wheel well. Toyota calls it a lifetime filter, meaning it’s not meant to be replaced. I replaced mine at 175k and didn’t notice any difference.

Check YouTube for vids. Several there. Not a bad job, just go slow and be careful with banjo fittings. FWIW, I changed mine at about 140k. Once out, i bumped the old one towards the in flow side just to see if it had captured anything and was surprised to see a bit of black residue come out. Can’t help but think it’s a good idea to change the filter at some interval.
