Ya I guess so huh, I compare shop by what similar equipped trucks go for. To me a Pro is in line with the ZR2. Torque on the Pro will be closer to ZR2 than the regular 2.4. But you’re right, they think price is everything.

Yup it is. Hopefully they switch that in the future and make it standard for TRD. IMO that difference makes comparing 3g to 4g trims the hardest. I would love to hear the rational for that switch, especially since it can't be attributed to 3g buyer preference data.

    Not where I live. A 1 acre lot is over a $1,000,000.

IMHO: It's not the interest-rates: It's the greedy entry-level MSRP with "market-level" additions stickers for the purchasing customer that kill the deal. These dealer market value stickers have a long-term effect: even after they have been removed from the windows. People see them and don't come back later: they go buy a Nissan or a Ford.

I'm sorry: A truck that has a $50k MSRP should have everything standard...except maybe the rediculous triple-sky moon roofs. New generations of two of their flagship/bread-and-butter models and they're allowing experimentation/fishing for what the market will accept: The ship is off course. (and it's early.)

I had a deposit down on a long boi TRD Offroad and ultimately that is what made me cancel the deposit. 46k was the sticker at msrp so close to 50k OTD. I tried to rationalize it for a month and then when the truck came in and they called me I said I just can't do it. When prices come down 3-4k and negate the cost of the upgrade package i'll consider it again.

Toyota needs to stop with the port installed fluff. The prices are bad enough then you add on crappy $800 step bars and door edge junk, it makes you want to go cross shop the competition

It’s Toyota’s antiquated distributor model. All three tiers have gotten greedy.

It's the spray on bedliner for me. You can't remove that. Immediate stop sale.

Basically everyone I am seeing is going "well it's not a Toyota but for the same price you can have an XYZ."

    Great long term thinking, Toyota.

Someone dropped the Marketing ball....Plus if Ford can make a HiPerf offroader with a nasty sounding 400+ HP v6 that passes all the gov standards for emissions , which in America we know will sell, then WTF was Toyota USA thinking?

Well that's just it, the marketing is terrible. Like to be clear I think they're probably decent trucks by most measures, and I think the i-Force engines will be "fine."

But it's just not competitive anymore... you can't get your cheap ass SR/SR5 for a fraction of the cost anymore, and even on the higher trims, the cost/benefit is worse than on competing trucks and even in many ways, the previous gen Taco.

Like yeah, people are gonna notice that, especially when you're asking them to spend more and more on a vehicle....

No lie, I test drove a pre production Ranger Raptor, plus did some offroading in one, but my Father raced for Ford over 50years, kinda have ties with Ford still. Reliability was the main reason I went down the Toyota path and haven't looked back. However the Ranger Raptor platform has been very successful in Australia and a few other countries for a number of years with very good reliability. The Price un molested by the dealers is a very good thing Ford has done and should pull some market share from Toyota. Time will tell.
