I need input/advice to see if I'm missing something if I attempt a repair. I have full INS coverage and will go that route first but if I will eat a deductable, I'm fixing it.

At some point I have been the victim of hit and run. I found my bumper pushed in about an inch and it appears the damage is a faint dent and bent/flexed bracket.

It appears I can remove and straighten the bracket. I would do so with a hydraulic press. What do you think? am I missing something? The valance may be scratched but I can repair pretty easy.

Sounds like you got it figured out ok. The stock bumper is pretty flimsy and outrageously expensive to replace. Unfortunately it can be a challenge to fix it so it looks right again. Good luck with whichever route you choose.

    Thanks.

I'm going to talk to my INS agent and get some estimates. The worst is that the bumper was slightly dented. I might could press it out some but experience is that it is tricky.

For the amount of damage, I'd avoid filing with insurance if you can.

    I was thinking that too.

Update: Decided to take a closer look. The brackets were actually not bent. The impact hust put a very minor twist in the bumper and knocked it to the extreme of its adustment. I loosened the brackets up and adjusted it back to within a 1/4". Other than the chafe marks on the valance, it's close enough for me.
