2021 trd sport with 13,000km brakes felt great before the fluid flush. The main toyota dealer for my city did service #2 with a brake fluid flush and now the brakes feel terrible.

When coming to a stop you dont feel any pressure or truck stopping at all until pedal is pushed atleast half way and its very weak pressure that sinks to the floor quickly while sitting.

They have checked for air a second time and swear there system cant put air into it. Dealer says its normal but the tacoma they let me test drive was night and day different. They kind of acknowledged this and adjusted the rear drums as that was there reasoning. Now they are claiming its good when its pretty much the same. Now you can feel the back drums apply a small amount but still when the pedal is half way pressed the front brakes slam in and the truck actually begins to stop. Now i swear the acceleration feels messed like the drums have been adjusted in too much and are rubbing? is this possible?

Any idea what went wrong at the dealer and what I should do about this?

Might need to bleed the brakes, maybe some air inside but if it has warranty take it and let them fix it

Oops i should have mentioned they swear they checked that twice and no air was coming out and they said the way they do it cant put air into it. Thats the only thing that makes sense to me is air is in it.

I'm curious why anyone would need a brake flush at 13,000km? (8,000 miles)

    Anyways, It's not normal.
It sounds like the lines/abs actuator has air in it.

Take it back and ask them to bleed the brake the correct way. With Techstream.

Dang that is an early flush!
I am all for maintenance and brake fluid flushes are important, but often ignored by many without problems.

Just wait until the axle seal blows and you have to disconnect the line from the wheel cylinder.
No better time to do a "flush".......:anonymous:

Or keep an eye on the rear diff vent and you won't ever have to do a flush until the cylinders go bad.

I mean you should, but most never do until something else breaks......

I mean if you paid for it.
    Get it done.

If you paid for it, make them fix it.

I'm to the point that I don't usually fix stuff, that isn't broke.

It sounds like they messed it up.

Annoyed that they did a service, brake flush, but why werent the brake shoes adjusted on the first visit?

I can't stand this BS from 170$ dealers. May as well pay a shade tree mechanic to mess it up, at least its cheaper.

The star wheel on the rear drums might need to be tightened up, but it sounds like air in the lines. Maybe they left a bleeder screw loose?

One thing you can try if the rear drums aren't adjusted properly, drive in reverse at a decent speed and then hit the breaks good. That should tighten up the star wheel some.

Just thinking here. Could they have messed with the ABS unit? If you get air in that it's difficult to get out. ???

When someone ask me to work on something I know nothing about.
I usually tell them, " I don't know if I can fix it. But I can f'ck it up just as good as anyone else can".

I fixed my garage door last week and was totally ready for it to rip itself out of the ceiling.

    Got lucky this time.

20$ they ran the master cylinder dry

Nothing at the rear brakes is going to change adjustment-wise after a flush

This is where you ask them one last time..

"So you're calling this brake pedal normal? Even when it changed right after the flush?"

"You'd let your family drive a vehicle with a brake pedal that feels like this?"

"You're going to make me take this problem to another shop?"

    "Final answer?"

I'd consider making a larger than normal stink over this. It's barely a 3 year old truck and they fucked it up. Can't be sending customers out the door with the pedal going to the floor. I wouldn't mince words, it likely needs a master cylinder. They need to step up
