I'm only adequate at building vertical decks.

    :notsure:

For any that don't remember, the Home Depot guy needed a project name for my lumber order and didn't know how to spell "pergola" so he put down "deck". Thus was born the vertical deck.

    Well, this is embarrassing...

Due to unforeseen logistical issues
like nobody sending any money for example
the amazing gift we all clubbed together to get you will be delayed slightly. :pout:

"Slightly" is commonly defined as "forever" in this instance...

As apt compensation it was suggested you should select your very own fabulous prize package from any of the rotting junk any of the awesome stuff  in the prize warehouse!!!

So tell us Bob, what has @StayinStock won???

    Thank you!!!

I would normally be super 'stoked' to pick out an awesome prize from the bowels of the prize warehouse but it seems as tho @six5crèéd has been slacking on his delivery schedule (not to mention the deck project that he has currently abandoned:facepalm:) so the warehouse is.....shall we say 'bone dry' at the moment. :(
I mean....I'm a giver; my heart is in it, my mind is in it...heck, my soul is in it....you'd think that when it comes time to.....ahh, forget it. :frusty:

    Have a great day!!

Too bad about the warehouse being clean to the walls. :pout:

:gossip:From an environmentally responsible standpoint that might be the for the best...

    Liability standpoint too...

Is there even insurance on that thing...? o_O

    ...is it paid up...?

Well my homemade ramps worked exactly as I had planned. $2 in lumber, from the thrift store. Makes oil changes on the Subaru so much easier.

I scraped the grill out pretty good and ran it for an hr on high so it’s ready to go. I didn’t use any chemicals so it doesn’t corrode anything. The moisture in the propane does enough corrosion

Afternoon all, just had a guy stop by the house claiming he was with a third-party company that our insurance had sent to take exterior photos of our house. I asked to see some paperwork, he had what I felt was legit paperwork, had our names, the company we just switched to, the company we went through, policy numbers.. etc.

    Has anyone else experienced this

Yes, self employed independent inspector hired by the insurance company.

Usually they do an exterior inspection from the ground, sometimes want to see kitchen, bathroom, and living room.

They generate a report with things like:
    Damaged/deteriorated shingles
    Foundation/chimney issues
    Deteriorated calking
    Lack of/insufficient hand rails
    Cracked/broken sidewalk blocks
    Painting needed
    Gutter/downspout issues
    Trees/hedges deemed a liability
    Deteriorated/missing -- whatever

They send the report off to the ins co who then sends you a nasty-gram saying "fix these recommendations or we will cancel your policy".

Might have been looking for fire hazards or trees overhanging. Got dropped by an ins co. On our first house because some trees were too close. Figured it was because some neighbors got flooded

Edit: someone beat me to it :)

So far from their recommendations:

    $2600 for tree removal
    $900 for sidewalk repair
$??? For annual fire extinguisher maintenance

By their definition they are looking for anything that can be a hazard or liability.

I see their point - to a point.

Unfortunately for the homeowner, especially with an older place, that is a very broad definition - and naturally the ins co holds all the cards.

He was nice enough, didn't say much about what he was looking for or finding. He did mention one thing, and claimed that he'd leave it out of his report.. which I hope is true. I guess time will tell what happens. Adulting is a real party sometimes
