Definitely in channel. I tried Weathertech but after Extreme Terrain sent me two packages with the pieces broken in the box I just went cheap and did Issyauto on mine. They're still holding up great (about 2 months later so not exactly a "long-term" review though).

What's weird about the Weathertech shipping issues is that they also sent me the Weathertech hood protector at the same time and that was shipped fine, but whatever.

In channel 100% check out different brands like AVS or Weather Tech. Consider getting the low profile ones. They look better imo

In channel on every vehicle we’ve owned. Best small upgrade for enjoying the wind/rain/whatever and letting the dogs chill as well :)

When you have this noise are the back windows cracked too?

    If yes, try closing them

I stuck some foam tubing in the channels. Couldn't stand the flutter/ rattling noise especially with loud bass music. It was some JAG tubing for mtn bike internal cable routing to silence the rattle while riding...https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07C32KBG9?ie=UTF8
I had this laying around and works great. I tried other window foam and rubber tubbing and they fell out. The jag foam hasn't fallen out once in a year. It's like a total different truck with complete silence from those damn channels rattling. I just cut about 14" for each window and chink it in there, roll up the windows a few times and bobs your uncle.

I'm also looking at the weather tech/avs rain guards, hoping it doesnt cause any fluttering noise... Does anyone have a double cab with only the fronts installed?

I live in the very sunny South and every truck I have ever owned had the AVS in channel. No issues ever with this brand and type.

out channel is ugly and for vehicles that can’t do in channel because their door doesn’t have a frame.

in-channel offers slightly more space to roll the windows down and still maintain protection, but does so at the cost of the potential to scratch the window glass where the plastic rubs. my old ranger ended up with some glass scratches from it.

out-of-channel versions tend to stick better many times--they're far easier to prep/clean/install, but don't offer as much protection-- the windows end up opening narrower to utilize them.

i find myself preferring the in-channel versions despite the hazards, as i prefer to have the windows open as much as possible, even in the rain.
