Big without being big. good price.

I liked that it was reliable. Low power draw. Not loud. Holds value. But it’s like $1k, big despite small capacity
No freezer part

this seems like it *could* be an ultimate solution once I confirm specs…

It even has a pic of 5th gen 4runner on the box therefore it must be good.

 

Specs are hard to find. Be interested to know what the power draw is

 

19 times out of 20 I've been fully satisfied with my COSTCO purchases big & small, perishable and durable. They seem to generally do their homework before offering an item for sale. Big-time value add. COSTCO's return policy is also excellent.

Still, $700 isn't cheap. At $399 I'd be a buyer.

Wonder how well its insulated. If its like other igloos its alright but nothing amazing. So the question for me is how often/much does it draw from the battery? It does have auto shut off if low draw is detected. But if it ruins a whole case of food what a way to find out how well it does lol.

Its pretty damn heavy which makes me wonder how much of that is insulation and obviously how much is compressor.

One of you guys with more money than me should try it out.

$700, that is a lot of $$$ to keep things cold. No matter how well it works I’d make sure that I’m going to really use it and get my moneys worth. If you are a weekend warrior then it’s way not worth it. Then a regular ice chest is just fine. If you go and use it for weeks at a time then it may make sense. I personally don’t have a problem paying $700 if I thought I’d really use it but I know most of my trips are a couple days, I’ll stick to ice chests. Yes it’s a “cool” thing but I’d rather spend my $$$ on a new shot gun or some nice fishing rods and reels, just saying

so apparently, Dometic owns Igloo since 2021...

so would I, but I don't think an 83qt electric fridge freezer from a reputable brand would ever be $399

my little Dometic was like $700-1000, I forget (no longer have it)

says it has battery saver. My dometic did but I turned that feature off.
Insulated? Was wondering that myself.
My dometic was big outside, small inside. Which tells me large air gap (insulation)
but looking at this Igloo, it was big outside, big inside. Nice from a storage point of view. But insulation, the air gap seemed smaller.

I don't see power draw listed on their website, which is suspicious.

If one was serious, it could theoretically be bought, tested, and returned if needed.
I'm not sure if there's a way to measure the power draw AT costco where you can see it plugged in.
Read somewhere around 3.1Ah (not sure if accurate) and idk exactly what that means.
I'm used to seeing watts

I *think* small dometic uses 60w when it kicks on
bigger dometics 100w or more
to take into consideration choosing power station or second battery
no idea what this Igloo is

works great for extended stay in vehicle. Probably depends on intended duration.

 

Dry ice and a Yeti will do a better job for half the price…

 

I'm always surprised by the consistent quality of stuff sold at costco.

I didn’t know we were talking about actually living in the truck. In that case, NO. But, if you’re living in the truck there’s lots of other issues too I would imagine…

 

Correct fridge freezer wired into truck is for long term repeated use not a single one hour trip

Nope only one issue. Cooking enough calories to sustain training gain strength and muscle

last time got abs involuntarily which tells me caloric deficit. Cooking at homes a little easier with wider options.
