    Thrift Savings Plan...sort of a 401-ish for federal government employees.

    Yeah, I know after looking it up. I just wonder why so many people use acronyms when it's easy enough to spell it out for people that won't know... especially when they are asking about people's thoughts on whatever the acronym is.

    Why are people so fascinated with acronyms? I can think of all kinds of reasons... but none of them are attractive.

    I'd guess because something like "IRS tax code 401 section K which outlines the rules and guidelines surrounding employer profit sharing and stock plans, and most notably Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA)" is kinda long.

    Yeah... but the acronym for that would be: IRSTC401SKWOTRAGSEPSASPAMNERISA, or something along those lines.

    Thrift Savings Plan isn't difficult to spell and I'd bet everyone that knows how to read would understand what you might be talking about.

    Sorry... Just hit me wrong after so many posts with acronyms from EVERBODY (it seems). I don't use them. I like people to understand me without wondering what I'm talking about. A matter of mutual respect.

    YMMV (LOL)

    A little something every chance we get.
    :cheers: Good afternoon Porch Pals & Sue! Late start, and been busy catching up. Not used to getting home around midnight. So...

    Those home school folks got all the tables and chairs racked by 11 as promised, so now the toys have to go back in the garage.

    20240413_230316.jpg

    After getting back from Home Depot fan return, I replanted the new veggies and finished the fish outside while I was waiting for the new controller. No meat left on this fish, up go the new ones.

    20240412_141249.jpg
    20240414_144309.jpg

    So, I took a leap of faith, put some touch up paint on the old fan, cleaned it up, and made sure the wiring was "better" for the new controller. They all sit on top, and wire management is a pain. But that is why there are so many controllers - OEM controllers now come that way because they are so cheaply made. And it's installed, operating, and all nice and clean. So, $23 - not $170, and not ugly.

    Thank you guys for being so "helpful"! Cutting, and torching are pretty much last resorts. We have no other parts for this motor, and I am already missing many. Making a display out of it means I need SOMETHING left! You can't just go get this stuff, and it's expensive in "restorer" world. So, I try everything anyone can think of first.

    Tom, what can we say but...... :bowdown::bowdown::hungry::hungry::hungry::hungry::bowdown::bowdown:

    After the end of this race - just because I get to sit down for a few - feed the doggie, King of Reheat some delicious MexiCasserole, and beg the wife for extra Margarita. Got to sweep the floor out here, but, that can wait a few minutes.....

    It's time to start clearing out that garage. There is a neighborhood garage sale next weekend, so it's a good time to dust things off.

    Lots of patina, but slices aluminum sheets like butter!

    The little thing at the top is a spark of magic. Lift the Meco, tap it, and off you go. It's handy for aircraft fuselages, but it's time to let it go, as my airplane-building days are behind me.

    Evening all:

    I'm sure you know or have heard of this Kurt, did you try a mix of 50% acetone and 50% transmission fluid as a penetrating oil, "SUPPOSED" to be better than any of the available product :notsure:, might be worth a try.

    Tom;
    If you can't get rid of this, I can ask my CAF crew if they are interested (if you would consider donating). At least it gets a good home!

    I sorta have, but all the experience in that hangar is based around AeroKroil. Given my engine is not installed, nor ever will be, I can try most anything. I will see what kind of reactions I get. But, since most things around there are ON a plane, I will bet you it's I don't know about that.....Thanks sir!

    Sometimes if you don't know what it is, it doesn't apply to you and even spelling it out wouldn't make much sense :notsure:

    Love the fishies... where'd you get them? I put up fans in the rooms that didn't have them - couldn't squeeze the controller boxes on the frame, so just left them out :anonymous:

    Usually those things are painted gray!!! Have cut thousands of pieces of aluminum (and steel) on one of those.....

    They are Amazon Rainbow Fish and Clown Fish. They have an endless supply~! My secret sauce is the mounting to the top of the PVC poles, so they always spin and twist! For Free Fitty, I will share it with you if you like!

    Getting the controller between the hanging ball, and the mount, is a difficult trick indeed!

    There was a bunch of thin pavers stacked up in my side yard left over from when we had the pool remodeled years ago. Since we’re getting ready to put the house on the market I figured I better do some with them because they were kinda an eyesore. I bought 2 50lb bags of playsand from Ace and wouldn’t you know the second bag was damp and I’ll have to let if dry before I finish sweeping. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out and now my shoes won’t get dirty when I move the trash cans.

    Wife wants decorative wind socks, but you've spent every previous attempt untangling them after only a day in the wind?
    Or the only place you can hang them never sees any wind?
    Well, you can SOLVE this problem with the never patented, easy to use Crazy system!
    That's right, and you probably have everything you need right there at home, except maybe the Lobster Clamps (Amazon);

    [IMG]

    Then, they can FLY in the wind all season long. The clamps prevent any twisting from catching anything, the "choke" tie and coffee lid prevent anything from going up over and catching on the top of the pole, and the nylon lets is change directions without any fight!
