What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Just routine spring things, every season done.
Clean up and ceramic spray;
Summer wheels on.
Out of schedule things:
New MX4 Bac Flip lid (replaced under warranty by BakFlip, great job, thank you, guys!)
Tailgate rubber seal installed, after today's test drive on dusty gravel road - passed 100%, dust leak is minimal.
Everything done in last 7 days,
and yea'h new bed mat - simple thick mat from CanTire, cost 100 Cad, works perfect for me!

 

Where’d you get the tailgate rubber seal from?

Was a link of forum to Amazon. Can't remember manufacturer and details, sorry. But, package contains two different products, two different ways to seal the box. Choice

I have no idea if there are better ones or not, I can just say it did work and it stays stuck. They had a set of videos or instructions for various trucks and it took a moment of pondering to figure out exactly how to put it on the sides of the bed for the side edges of the tailgate.

 

Wow . Guess they started torquing them... Mine were all under torqued from the factory.

Well it looks like ESI products get the nod from several places.
The seal helps tremendously but doesn't close off all the spots. Dust comes in the storage bin, and two square spots at the back of the bed in front of the tailgate. Also look to seal the top side edges of the tailgate and up in the front corners of the bed. I used some extra weatherstripping from my BAKflip for those other spots.

I have a set in black.
I initially thought they could be installed and the receiver could be removed. That’s not how it works. So I have the replacement “receiver” that comes without the tow package, but it’s going to require a little grinding and drilling another hole. Just haven’t had the time.

 

I’ll have to research it, but I remember seeing a set of seals for the storage bin. Can probably use some foam weatherstripping at the two openings where the cover legs go into, if that makes sense. That’s where the dust enters.

My bed gets pretty dusty in the summer months off-roading. Even with the tonneau cover closed.

In fact, tailgate seal is a first specific car product I order (of the rubber seals, I mean). Working around/beside/with glass installing guys for last 20 years - I havve very good selection of various rubber seals and caskets in my garage.
