Inspect axle assembly, retighten bolts and replace anything damaged.

I’ve visually checked my 2023 TRD Pro and it appears okay but will be heading out on a 2,000 mile trip with it in the next month and am glad that I can have the dealership inspect and make any needed fixes before that.

My dealer said still not ready for fix. Must wait. I guess until it gets mailed to us. That the info is considered in the works. In North Carolina. It IS on my app, weird.

I was at the dealership on Thursday and my service guy said he would do some checking and get back with me. Called me yesterday to say that they had just received the remedy and scheduled my appointment.

The Toyota app had said remedy not available but now does list the remedy.

Your dealership may not have received it yet. I’d keep checking with them because it has been released.

Remedy appeared in my Toyota app, so I called my Toyota dealer, and made appointment of this axle recall. I go from there.

    < rips out futuristic-looking calculator...> Calculates:

Self-doing quick inspection and retorque of said objects, vs:

    - time spent going to dealer, sitting in waiting room
    - getting pissed off as rep comes in first to tell me "no not done yet with the insp you brought it in for, but we did our mandatory 34
point generic inspection first....your wipers need replacing"
    - getting pissed off as rep then shows service dept equivalent of "shoe store rental sock" air filter, and says it needs replacement (see also:cabin filter)
    - asking if they could do an oil change.... since you're here already
    - risking getting scratches, or even worse, while professionals work around and drive your vehicle (see crunchy doors as they "took the corner too tight" type threads)
    - someone slipping in a SW update to something, since the user wouldn't see it anyway, right?
    - going home after leaving dealer lot, a warning light only then coming on from something they did for the "required" recall, being told
just coincidence (refence two separate occasions of dealer state inspection, two separate O2 sensors just magically failing within 5
    minutes of driving)

Data point of reference: Last time in for just tire swap some years back.... 3.5 hours.

<puts down calculator.... laughs in Futurama Calculon voice...>

As much as I would like to have this "officially" fixed... a torque wrench and a 6 pack is cheaper peace of mind.

You may very well be correct as long as that addresses the excess welding debris that could cause the bolts to loosen. I’m an old retired man and will let the dealership do the work and let them keep the liability of any future issue from this.

If your dealership has a competent service department, I won't stop you, but I've not had a great experience with the dealer's service dept and only go if I absolutely need to.

Not to say that I probably won't take in eventually, but it's less urgent if it's something I know I can check myself.

And who said anything about drinking and driving? Really presumptuous. o_O

Yeah, it popped into my head the image of the kids on The Simpsons from a long time ago. They were in the shoe store and you had to have socks on to try on shoes. The clerk was holding out the beat up "store" sock with tongs... for obvious reasons lol. Every time I think about it or see someone mention a service rep bringing "the owner's" filters in to show and tell, my mind goes here.......

You using big words. Presumptuous! You wrote “drink 6 cans of beer,” whatever. I don’t know how many Toyota dealerships in your location, but if you buy brand new Toyota from one dealer, then go to different dealer, may, or may not get BS.

There is free trip, if take their shuttle, etc.

Before things get all blown out of proportion. Without going into too much detail, I came back my Toyota dealer for this recall. They have order one of nuts for side of rear axle. They filed it down, to get rid of debris.

I have an appt for this fix on Tuesday. Anyone have the “fix” done yet by a dealer? Report back here please. Wondering what to expect (need my wife to pick me up? Rent a car? Wait? Etc.)

So you say 'without going into detail', but that's what everyone has been asking for in this thread while waiting around. How about posting up your service sheet? You could be the first to put up some real info in this thread with some technical dealer detail many would appreciate.

Because otherwise, I'd advise just backing out completely. The post before this one has you sitting at an intersection with your gps telling you to turn onto a road leading to destruction with your statements about other members.

I apologize about previous posts. This what dealer wrote: “The driver side nut number 3 had some debris - chisel and file flat, we will have to order the nut.” That was correction on my Tacoma.
What you mentioned. If that the case, can buy “aftermarket M10 x 1.25 Locking Flange Nut.” Somebody else wrote about aftermarket parts.
