I currently have a Bakflip bed cover. I’m thinking about selling it and getting a softopper instead.

Anyone follow this route before? Thoughts? I’m indecisive as to whether or not I should make the move or not. Any tips or recommendations will help!

    Thanks :)

Do you need the extra height for storage that the Softopper offers vs the tonneau cover? I have been debating this same topic and decided that a Softopper will work best for duck hunting so I can haul a filthy bird dog in the back.

I did it - went back to the Bakflip. Missed the locking storage more than I thought I would and we ended up getting an SUV so the extra vertical space in the truck wasn't as needed.

The nice thing about getting a softopper is that you'll sell it quick for 3/4 the money you paid for it, so it's a cheap experiment if you're wrong.

I wouldn't keep on a softtopper as a permanent fixture of the truck, just as needed would be a fun thing to have. Day to day a Bakflip would be pretty ideal.

Tires, Softopper, fully armored, winch, many pinstripes.
I went to a softopper and can’t imagine going back. It’s very handy for hauling things that are too tall and I like the looks of it.

I have a soft topper. But I also don’t keep much in the truck so lockable storage isn’t a big deal to me. Most of the time I just need to be able to keep things dry that are bigger than what I could fit under the tonneau.

It’s less than ideal in the cold though. The windows get very stiff and the material shrinks to the point where getting it back up properly after collapsing it down is very difficult. On the occasion I really have to in the winter I put a little space heater in the bed for a few minutes and let it warm it up from the inside so I can get it set properly.

For long road trips it’s awesome. Don’t have to pack like bed like a Tetris puzzle. Just throw it all in. And in the summer collapsing it down and having a full bed is super easy. Or rolling up the sides and having some shade a breeze in the bed for the dog and kids is nice on occasion. They think it’s fun.
