I’d say I’m okay with it being in central Florida. But I haven’t been loaded up or heavy at all. It’s alright with a tune.

It hasn't really bothered me much. I feel it has plenty of get-up-and-go for my needs. I tried to keep the weight reasonable at this point, so that may help a little. But still can move with full steel skids, sliders, and a canopy.

But honestly, things like ride quality and drivability will be pretty subjective. I don't feel like I've ruined my drive experience with the 285/75/17's though. Mine measure a little over 33" mounted on the vehicle.

I emailed JBA about this concern prior to posting my question here and the answer i got back was how a 34" tire wouldnt fit the wheel well with 2 - 2.5" of lift and that i should go 4" lift lol. Thank you for the insight my friend it is greatly appreciated!

Yeah unfortunately, I went off of their previous info on backspacing but as you now know, isn’t necessarily accurate. And of course my man!

edit: it will work on 2 - 2.5 lift, it’s just how much you need to clearance between fender, pinch weld, and cab mount. and MAKE COMPLETELY SURE the backspacing is enough.

I’ve been on this thread and the 295/70R17 thread. Such a tough decision. Currently on 285/70R17 and next set of tires will be one or the other look. Have 0 offset now but want a slightly wider stance AND want the height! Haha! Want it all!

I went with 255/85/16 Toyo M/t.. I definitely noticed the increase rolling resistance and can only imagine how much more drag the 285s would have. I agree the 285s look a little better, but to me all the benefits of a 255 out weigh the 285s (better contact patch when aired down, less rolling resistance, little cheaper, more clearance in wheel well, it's actually taller)

Recently on Tinkerer’s Garage proved the skinny to have the higher contact patch when aired down. That’s why I started looking at taller and skinnier pizza cutters.

So coming from a 285/70r17 to a 285/75r17 was there a noticeable power loss and decrease in mpg? I'm really looking into switching over either to 295/70 or 285/75. Just want to hear everyone's input.

Was there alot of modifications to fit them? I'm assuming you switched from 285/70s?

Did you notice a bigger difference in mpg loss?

If you read both the threads, you will note both will require CMR and Pinch Weld mods for best results. In addition to lift.

I asked because I already have the 285/70r17 with cab mount and pinch wells done. Maybe I should ask do I need to do anything more to fit this size? Another alignment possibly?

I am in the same boat. Also may need new UCA depending on tire offset. I have a 0 offset with 285/70R17 and had no issues even before CMR and PW mod and OEM UCA. Hope that helps.

Well it seems like it could just fit fine for me. I have cmc pw and uppers, and I have alot of room even with my 285/70s. This will be my next tire size. Thank you for your help.

Beefy looking tires! (Jaw drops). What tire size did you have before? How do they compared? And did you have to do extra modifications to make them fit. Great looking truck!

My previous was 265/75R16 Wildpeak AT3. The one in the pic is pretty worn down, but I pulled my unused spare out, and it’s still just a massive difference.

Love the Wildpeaks, but the AT4s are wayyyy too heavy in comparison to the old AT3s. The Toyos are a good compromise.

The truck has a CMC, pinch welds, and of course, the hybrid bumper. I have tons of clearance. If it wasn’t for wanting to keep the spare underneath, I probably would have gone bigger tbh since I don’t mind chopping more.

There is a slight difference in power, but for my driving here in Oregon where everyone drives slow already, it doesn’t make a difference at all at the end of the day. It’s a shrug of a difference. I don’t think I need to regear at all.
