My shortlist of where I want to live is : east seattle metro, west denver ish, Reno, Salt lake area. Farther west colorado would be awesome too. Have a chance to get a decent sized property when that time comes, but I know that'll be tougher to accomplish unless finding remote only positions an don't need 60 min proximity to international airport.

Simple to see why. 4 seasons. Mountains close by. Large enough cities to have everything I need, but if In a massive city would want to be on the outskirts closer to the mountains/open space

i felt very similar out of school. i spent a summer in seattle and decided it was too big and not enough close mountain biking. i grew up in kentucky and honestly get a little overwhelmed with big big cities like that so i stayed in colorado springs.

i kind of wish i looked at reno or SLC a little closer. those seem like cool places but i have never visited.

good luck with your job hunt. dont get discouraged. it takes a lot and can take its toll, but im sure you'll find something you like.

    Yeah.
I'm the same, I have to believe in the product but also the company mission, philosophy, and culture. I had several coworkers at a previous company that landed at GM. They tried to recruit me and said I'd get a company car. I couldn't even consider it.

I would totally get that fixed. If you don't, at least find someone with a frame jig to make sure the frame is still straight.

You should make a YouTube video of buffing out all the scratches with a Brillo pad to show how great titanium claims to be, that will fund a new frame too! I recommend Gen Z jargon such as. "Bet" and "Glow up".

It would be, but cool company. Would be tough to find both.

The issue with many cool outdoor equipment companies, especially those in cool outdoor areas, is that people are willing to work there for lower wages. Now if you're just starting out and those wages work for you then great, but I've have a hard time finding something I can transition to after being in a more "normal" industry for quite a while. The wages (at least for engineers) just aren't competitive from what I have seen.

That photo doesn't make it clear, but I have checked that the frame is straight. The more I'm thinking about it, the more I'm inclined to send it to someone to repair. I'm worried that it's gonna bug me forever if I don't fix it now.

I agree with this statement fully. There is also something to be said about keeping work separate from your passions.

    not enough.
Agreed as well. I have many friends who jumped in and are pretty much doing it for the discounts they get on gear. kinda comes awash at that point though since you're not paid as much as if you had a different job outside of the industry.

Agree with all of these statements! I think having passion for your work is overrated, especially cause work will probably kill your joy for that passion. It's much more important to have a good boss/co-workers (i.e. company culture) and flexibility in your schedule. Edit: I actually have an employee that's a big rock climber. She worked for a climbing gym, then for Petzl, then for Black Diamond. She said the work was always miserable and the pay wasn't great. Now she works for me in clinical lab science and she's much happier cause she's paid better and gets to go climb quite a bit in her free time. Plus, I'm a fantastic boss

I've talked to multiple titanium frame builders about the dent. They're all basically saying that there's not a lot of stress on the top tube and titanium should be fine, so they'd just ride it as is. I'd love to find someone local that knows titanium bikes and can look at it in person though.

I've repaired a dent in a steel frame similar to that by rolling it with a die (basically just a piece of square stock with a tube-sized hole bored in it, then cut in half and clamped in a vise) to make the tube round again, then TIG brazed the remaining dent and sanded down. I'd think you could do the same with titanium if any of those frame builders would fill the dent. It'll have a heat affected zone of discoloration, but wouldn't be a dent. Maybe you could paint a stripe over it or something.

I’m running a Wolftooth carrier. Not sure what model/size. It holds my bare necessitates; tire lever, zip ties, emergency tube. I have the a Oneup pump and EDC tool beside my water bottle.

With the above on the frame I ride packless for the vast majority of my rides.

The caveat to that is if you are in a place in your life where the wages are ok for you and the culture will add to your lifestyle. For instance if you are single and don't have a good friend group to ride with, working somewhere like Transition is probably going to come with the ability to network really quick with good lunch or post work group ride opportunities. Living the lifestyle full time would probably be pretty cool for a while but it would have to be somewhere that has a good work culture too.

@SenatorBlutarsky if you are already thinking like that then you should probably get it repaired. I'm not a bike designer or titanium expert, but I highly doubt that would lead to a failed frame. Titanium behaves much closer to steel than aluminum as far as strength. I don't know how thick titanium bike tubes are generally, but I'm a bit surprised a fabricator couldn't clamp that tube, weld on a tab, and pull that dent out. But if your buddy is willing to pay for the repair and it won't cause any hard feelings or undo financial burden on him, then I'd say go get it fixed. Might be a forever bike, but that dent would severely harm future resale too.

What is that super compact orange tube? I'm assuming that's the tube you mention.
