I have done it a bunch of times by myself. It takes planning. Yes it’s heavy, heavier than I am. I would absolutely suggest 2 people, one of them should be limber and also strong. I used to change out the cap on my ‘95 f-150 long bed, I don’t know how I actually accomplished this, but I know there was raised berm I would back up next to. The taco, I would move my smartcap on and off here and there then I had a snugtop, which I took off a bunch of times by myself, then setup a palette to hold it which I could lift with a tractor. But at least 2 people. You want this to be a situation in which you don’t say, I should’ve done that differently. In the beginning overkill is just preparation for the worst.

It’s way easier if you have a garage and can rig a hoist. The only two times I’ve had this cap off I used the roof tracks to mount lift points. I’m kinda done with the turtle method now that I have a place of my own.

awesome so those fill in the little gap between the bed rail and the front of the bed? Because I have a camper shell and water leaks from right there but dang those little things are pricey haha.

Keep it simple. Trailer it home, unload it on sawhorses and figure out how you want to install it.

Right where all your tools, materials and helpers can be found.

They fit in there but I think there is some trimming involved. If I remember correctly there was some Tetris activity in the placement of them. image.jpg

It is not 100%. I am not sure if those will prevent the leak with you camper shell though. With my OEM trifold bed cover, it still leaks but probably the leak will be worse without it.

My smartcap leaked, the Diamondback leaked bad until I put those pieces in. After I put them in and sealed the tailgate and you hear the difference, that whoomp. Snugtop didn’t leak.
