I had a lightbar mounted above the windshield on my 95 wrangler… seemed like a good idea… but it whistled so bad on the highway it drove me nuts. Also was a lot of drag for the poor little 2.5L motor. Do the Tacoma roof racks make a lot of noise?

Depends on the rack. A well designed roof rack will create general wind turbulence noise, kind of like a white noise. Whistling is due to lack of forethought. those bolt together plate steel racks that everyone uses these days can be big whistlers. The factory rack does a decent job with wind noise, and most aftermarket tube racks are pretty low on noise. LED bars in general cause more whistling than traditional lights with their sharp edges.

I know my LFD rack on my T4R makes no noise .
Think it all depends on the quality of the roof rack

100% Lot of companies CADing something up and sending it right tno the fab floor for production. When I built roof racks (over 10 years ago), I only built them for 2nd Gen double cabs, because that was the only truck I could test them on. No way I was going to build someone a rack and not drive around with it in different configurations before delivery. Many times I was able to identify noise issues and correct them before delivering a finished product.

I also have a Alpha on my truck with a harbor freight gun vault, yakima kayak folding mount, and traction boards and mine makes zero noise.

Yes I ended up going since the weather for OBX wasn't ideal that weekend. It was a great time! Not like a usual expo by any means... This event focuses more on the camping and off-roading rather than pushing products down your throat.

So im looking for a reputable shop in Greenvelle, SC area. To install ECGS CLAMSHELL BUSHING (ELIMINATES NEEDLE BEARING)
I ended up buying the whole shebang from ECGS to do myself, but the nerve pain in my back has gotten worse. I've been on short term disability since February.

First Class Halt said no, its not OEM piece, Trollhole has a waiting list.

    Its my only vehicle.

Probably not the most popular option but they adjusted my lift and did alignment Screenshot_20240416-060248.png Screenshot_20240416-060300.png

Call JT at Forefront. If they cant do it he can either sub it to someone who can or will point you in the right direction.

Now that I have a bigger boat to tow I am going to pull the trigger on a ECGS regair for the Tacoma.
Think I will drive up to Raleigh and let them do the install.

    Yes
It's gonna be a long drive back home if you follow their recommended break-in period. It's something along the lines of driving and stopping every hour to let the gearbox cool down or maybe it was every 50 miles or so. I dont remember exactly and I'm lazy to look it up which it's probably pretty obvious on their website. Meh. I just remember it looking like a PIA during that break-in period.
