I think they discovered those super long intervals caused a lot of broken engines & ticked off customers.

It all depends on the air filter system the motor has.

My Kohler 25hp says 100 hrs. I think that's ridiculous! Just change it every season and not worry about the hours.

    It's $9 in oil, don't cheap out.

Do get a vacuum extractor. It is a game changer! You will wonder why you never had one before.

    Agree!
I've had the extractor for years, probably close to 30.
It is the easiest way for OPE - and the older automatic transmissions without a drain plug. Vac the fluid then remove the pan, I wore a lot of ATF in the old days.

And the 3rd gen oil filter wasn't that bad, but I have something with a spin on filter right in front now... :anonymous:

Yep.....All started last year during my yearly check up....Doc asked me to do a heart CT scan to check for blockages. No blockages in the heart but it did show a place on my lung that was concerning. I then went for a CT scan with contrast and the news got worse, it was pretty big. Went to a lung specialist and he sent me for a PET scan. The mass lite up on the outside only which he had never seen before, so it was off to a surgeon for a biopsy and endoscopy. Those results came back negative for cancer and he said the inside of my lung looked great. He was surprised because he expected cancer. I have had a couple of instances of coughing up blood during this time and the Doc doesn't seem to concerned about that, it's very small amounts and is probably related to the benign mass. I have had another CT scan 3 months after the biopsy which showed the mass had shrank a tiny amount and no new areas of concern. I'm scheduled for another CT scan at the end of May. So for me it's an on-going issue which will have to me watched for the rest of my life.

BTW.....I'm not a smoker and never have been. I didn't loose any weight and my appetite has stayed good. I have had lots of prayers from friends, family and a very good church.

I hope her results come back negative for cancer. Feel free to contact me through a PM if you have any questions or just need to talk.

    Good morning everyone :hattip:

@RustyGreen , I’ve gotten my ZT in a couple tight situations near walls.

The first was my side yard where the lawn slopes down to a retaining wall between the side and back yards. One time it was kind of wet and I found myself sliding and skidding sideways inches from about a five foot drop. I couldn’t get it to move so I had to manually point the front end away from the wall,

The second was a slide where my front wheels got stuck in a soft bed just before another 3-4 drop.. That was fun cause I got to rope ‘er out with the Tacoma.

So with that, I’d like to add:
    Pro Tip
    5) Stay the :censored: away from walls.

Our customers have the same problem. They see the part of the tag that says to service every 100hrs. BUT they ignore the next part that says "or annually " whichever comes first. It's not all that unusual for people to come in with 2 or 3 years old oil and filters. Then they will say we're try to rip them off when I recommend service :annoyed:

I take one afternoon off to return some boards and exchange them to Lowe's and @RustyGreen @koditten & @Tiedie get out of control  What is wrong with you people :confused::confused::confused:

    :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

I forgot to mention it was a 150 boards I ordered wrong for the deck, I got 1" X 6" boards instead of decking boards, my mistake. Did I mention my Lowe's card wouldn't work and I had to call the people who I can't understand? Twice

While I was on hold a super nice lady at Lowe's walked up and got to talking, yada yada I mention I signed up for Pro last week and she said I can look your Pro card up (which hasn't came yet, more on that in a second). She looks it up, saves me an extra $100 and Cole and I are ready to get home and eat supper, it's 8:00 by the way.

We get home, I go in and there is a Lowe's Pro card laying on the counter, I tell my wife wish I would have checked the mail before we left at 6 something, she said it's been laying there for 2 days

Good morning friends! Have an awesome day :hattip:

Cole and I got 5 more holes dug and support post in before we left yesterday. I'm going to build steps next, off each side then put joist in and deck this section before I start phase 2 and then railing.

All this talk about oil change times had me remembering what happened to me. Back when I bought our current POS I did want a ZT but wife was doing most all the mowing at the time and she wanted a smaller tractor style. So I agreed and got 1 of those JD's with the 30 second oil change.:( Thought well ok ??
After reading the manual while setting up, I thought this was a mistake but the wife was happy.
1st. oil change @ 50 hrs. ok normal but all oil changes will be done at 50 hrs. at $50.00 a pop. o_O
Because the extra large filter had oil in it :help: and you were never charging the oil just refreshing it a little bit.:goingcrazy: my mistake.
So bought the stuff to convert back to regular filter and pipe and plug to make more normal we average about 100 hrs a year on our machines mowing. Like was mentioned before ruffly $9.00 in oil talk about a great savings. I'm not easy on machines but with our terrain I have to be picky on what machines I use for what chores.
