Just put down my deposit with the driveshaft shop. funnily enough, Adams out of Las Vegas quoted me $600 more for the same thing. That was weird, since I figured they'd be cheaper given their greater volume. There was also an OEM driveshaft available through Joe Joe, but he quoted me $1060 and couldn't give me a figure for shipping.

What originally was the reason you started looking at getting your ujoints and then eventually driveshaft replaced?
Was it just from an inspection, or did you have some symptoms?

Followed along for a while but can't remember what started it all..

I brought it in to get a u joint replaced, but they ended up saying the slip yoke was busted too, which is a surprisingly expensive part, so accounting for labor etc., it ended up being more cost-effective to just order a new shaft.

But how did you know you needed a ujoint?

It was clunking and banging every time I got on and off the clutch or throttle. The vibrations are also gone now. That reminds me that I should grease the front propshaft.

Anyway it's all ordered now so I don't have any questions. I just thought I'd point out that OEM driveshafts are in fact still available. I can't believe everyone had told me they were NLA.

Yeah I ask because my truck is a bit clunky coming off throttle and has a few different vibrations:anonymous:
Lived with it for a long time now but its started to get to a point where it needs to be fixed, guess I know where to start

Then again you have to remember, the dude drove on dry rotted tires for about a year when he first got his truck despite everyone constantly telling him to replace them
